This is very disappointing especially after Andy and Peter said they will upload
The files only to find that it’s a case of DIY Otherwise that’s all the years of purchasing gone ( if other companies like Penguin can keep all the files safe and I have over 20 years of stuff) Clearly not much though was given to the web person they would use |

Morning all,
I think I need to repeat what I and others have mentioned earlier in this post as it seem like it has either been missed or misunderstood. As far as we are aware all videos were transferred but if for any reason you are missing videos please let us know and WE will populate your account with any missing videos manually. You still have around two months left to let us know. You don't have to remember what you had as you can currently still access your old account here old.alakazam.co.uk (just make a note what is missing if anything and we will get it sorted for you) so this really isn't an issue and will only take up 5-10 mins of your time. The same goes for loyalty points, let us know and we can transfer them manually. As for registration codes on videos this is exactly the same process we had on the old site so nothing has changed? If you have any issues please let us know and we can resolve them for you. There seems to be a lot of misinformation on this post, so best you just contact us so we can help. Best Regards Peter |

Gosh ….. maybe I’m behind most of you, I have been unable to access my downloads on Alakazams new site …….., or so I thought!
I kept tapping the picture of the TVPlayer and nothing happens so thought this is a big problem …… accidentally I found you have to go to the top of the page and Wham there is my download. Just thought I would expose my stupidity in case this might help a few of you. Imho we just need to learn the ins and outs of new site don’t you think |

To continue from my notes above …… it’s exactly the same procedure for all my Academy content!
So, I can access my downloads and Academy’s and I’m pretty sure I have not lost anything. Thank you Chaps at Alakazam. |

Hard to tell how many because like many of you I'm sure, I didn't keep an itemized list of what was on there. So I'll never really know with certainty if I've got everything I purchased. First of all, I have changed my password on the new site so not sure if the old one still works for the old site, or is the old site also updated to the new password? Tried changing the password on the old site but all I get when I try to log into the old site is just a white screen that says cart disabled. So I can't even get into my account on the old site to see what is still there. That's why these types of updates are never simple. There are just too many different scenarios that you can never anticipate them all. Alas, I will try contacting Alakazam and see how that goes. Thus, the adventure begins. But my gut feeling is that I will never feel confident that I eventually have everything I had before. There will always be doubts. Oh well. |

Well I contacted Alakazam last week and Wayne Goodman contacted me back to say the items that haven’t come across will be added by hand. Hopefully this won’t take long. I have been back onto the old site and there was more there than I
had remembered. Got to say this has not been Mr Nardis greatest moment! |

They wound up telling him the data can be moved and they were apparently unable to do this in the end. I don't think that's his fault. In fact, nowhere do any of these company's say they are forever liable for your content and can host it forever (not that I've seen anyway). We have to big boys and girls and take responsibility and get YOUR OWN files if you want them - not just expect it to be done for you (even though they are still saying they will manually do it for you). |

Dmann11. If you pay a company to do a job you get it done right. I was not contacted before this happened and told to download all my files as the company that was responsible was going to screw up. Do you work for this IT company??????? Customer services within the magic industry are a joke.

There are a few separate issues here.
1 - Alakazam believes they contacted everyone well in advance to warn them to download their videos. This is simply not true. I never got an email and it appears that a lot of other people are in the same boat. I would argue that this is the biggest problem. 2 - The second issue revolves around an important question that is not unique to Alakazam: are they keeping your videos for you as a courtesy or is it part of what you are purchasing when you buy something that comes with a video? I would assert that this is not clear. 3 - If they are going to move your videos over to the new server, then they should do this for all videos for all customers. I should not have to correlate the videos between old and new servers and then contact them to get them to correct their mistakes. Same with points and wishlist. It should be done automatically. However, as someone who has worked in IT for 35 years I can tell you this is a routine part of server migration. They have the information and there should be no reason for users to get involved. Alakazam's fault here is in choosing an IT company that is apparently incompetent and did not transfer the information properly. This should have been a primary consideration if customer service was indeed a top priority for them. I will bet that it will be next time as I doubt that they intended for this to turn into such a debacle. |

Good points CardGuyMike! I agree with you.
I don’t believe Alakazam did anything maliciously, they probably thought they were saving a few bucks and the company they used I’m sure promised them that everything would be transferred over perfectly and Alakazam had no reason not to believe them. But I have to be honest and say that I don’t care for the look of their new website very much. I swear it looks exactly like many DIY templates I’ve seen over the years. With some of the problems they’ve had it does make me wonder if they did try to take this on themselves. What was wrong with their old site anyway? |

Have you tried to download off the new site? If you go the file you want and mouse-over the title, it doesn't change or even look like a link to click on. You get no feedback that anything has even happened when you click it - you have to scroll back to the top to see changes - very weird! It really is very amateurish, mid-90's web stuff. They took a step back to "Future-proof the site" |

Hi Guy's
Please read the posts above. All you need to do is make a list of what in your old account, email us the link and we can populate your new account with any missing videos. I have said this a few times in this thread. I hope this helps Regards Peter |

You own and manage both sites. You clearly have a way to add products to a new account. You probably have a way to verify products on an old account. Otherwise, can I just make a list of every item I want on your site and send you that, instead? (No, don't worry, I'm not going to.) So if all that's the case, why do I need to get involved? I shouldn't have to message to have you move my data over (hint: move it over for everyone by default), let alone tell you which data it is. |
