I feel if you use Orphic as a palmed CTW it will also do the job very well and easily but I can’t compare JOL and Orphic because I’ve never used that wallet. I say if your a magician and you only want a CTW and your happy with your JOL I’m sure it’s a great wallet also

Thanks for both yours and John's reply. My wallet is due for an upgrade and I fancied having something with a a few extra features with a modern look to it so I'll probably still purchase it anyway.

Thanks Videoman but I'm after a few extra features which I believe the Orphic has.

I am halfway through watching the tutorial and as always it’s quite brilliant from Lewis.
Even if you are experienced in a lot of the moves it’s so well explained and so very captivating to watch. The 1914 tutorials are never boring and it’s never a case of thinking just cut to the chase, I enjoy every second of them all and In fact rewatch them a lot. As Dee said in an earlier post the devil is in the detail and those finer details are great convincers for your audience and really up your level imho Gaz.😊 |

Does anyone know when Penguin will put the video tutorials in our downloads? Looking forward to this.

My Orphic Plus has not shipped yet, even though I ordered it 15 minutes after the product appeared on The 1914's website. Needless to say, I cannot wait to have this in my hands! Assuming that the wallet is well-made (and I have no doubt that it is), this will be my new EDC. I own so many (too many!) mentalism wallets: SAW, Razor, Shadow, Viper, Blind Man's Wallet, Looch's Blink, Secret Tannery Peek Note (my current EDC), and a few others. I really like these wallets (especially SAW), but Orphic stands out above the rest. The peek is so disarming, and the switch is simple yet diabolical. I do wish it had a compartment for cash/banknotes, but that would probably interfere with its minimalist design.
I completed the 3 1/2 hour tutorial this morning. Absolutely incredible. This is the best wallet tutorial since SAW. Lewis is a gifted mentalist, but he is also a phenomenal teacher. If you are new to mentalism, you will learn so much from this tutorial--great routines, basic sleights, different handlings, helpful scripting ideas (I especially like Lewis's justification for having something written down--cf. the "Final Thoughts" section), and many other subtleties. Both of the drawing duplication routines that Lewis teaches are brilliant, and I absolutely love his simple but deceptive serial number divination (I will definitely be performing this). The Padlock Dream Box routine is nice too, particularly the bit about "many possible futures." Lewis teaches 5 peeks--I can see myself doing at least 3 of them, depending on the routine and situation. What is more, Craig's 4 routines are such a wonderful addition to this project. Although I am more of a mentalist than a magician, I can definitely see myself performing his No Palm Card to Wallet (which has a fun "magician vs. mind reader" hook). In short, this is an awesome release. I hope everyone remembers Orphic when it comes time to vote on the best trick of 2022 (one of the downsides of releasing a product in January). As others have said, Orphic deserves a designated Facebook group. There are so many possibilities with this wallet. Craig has apparently created 20+ routines using Orphic; perhaps he'd be willing to share some of these in the Facebook group! Congratulations to Lewis, Dee, Craig, and The 1914 team. I haven't been this excited about a mentalism product in quite some time. Marc |

P.S. The PDF is also excellent. It contains a number of additional tips, handlings, scripts, and routines. I'd strongly recommend giving it a close read.

Thanks Marc, I have just read your post now and you are bang on the money.
It’s a very exciting project and the subtleties are so so disarming. I have come to expect no less from The 1914 team but that doesn’t mean it should be taken for granted and not mentioned. Consistency is everything and these guys certainly don’t rest on their laurels, they deliver time and time again imho. It’s a very refreshing attitude and a niche in market, so they thoroughly deserve all the success they will get Gaz.😊 |

Thanks, Gaz. You are absolutely right about The 1914. If the Magic Café had an award for magic company of the year, The 1914 would get my vote (although I am a huge fan of Alakazam as well). I have purchased 8 products from The 1914, and all 8 are awesome. Eclipse was one of my picks for trick of the year.

I’m playing with the Orphic wallet’s abilities. There are five ways explained on the video instructions to get your peek. There is only one type of peek but five ways to get it. I personally really like peek 4 and 5 on the video as they use the switch feature of the wallet. But there is something I’ve noticed in using the wallet. My American sized business card is about a mm longer then the edge of the wallet when it’s inserted in the none peek side of the wallet.
I don’t think this will be noticed but of course, it’s an easy fix I can just trim my switch dummy card 1 mm and that will solve the problem. So it’s not really an issue but I thought I should mention it. I wonder if anyone else that uses American sized business cards has noticed this.

Funnyclown, yes I know UK business cards slightly differ in length than the UK, Uk’s are 85mm long and the US 89mm long.
I would just cut the 1mm or what you need off the Dummy one as you say. I wonder whether they made it like that so enough of the card is seen for the illusion as I have had wallets before where the card can accidentally go in too far? However making it 1mm or 2mm deeper if that’s all it is should of been achievable. Fortunately it’s easily resolved as you say and a non issue, best wishes Gaz.😊 |
