Lost a giant from my journey, one that happened to also be an old friend from childhood. We first got into magic together as kids, but he took it to a level that made him one of the very best in his part of the road. How good was he with a deck of cards? Well, I’ll let another giant tell you what many around the world knew of this Café member, and my old friend, DOC…

“Sad news that Eric McMullen known in our world of gambling & magic as DOC passed away today [1/7/22]. DOC was very underground but he was a legendary gambling expert. You could think of him as the Michael Jordan of gambling, he was at the top of his field. He was one of those people who I always wanted to meet, but never had the opportunity. A number of my friends around the world were fortunate to make the connection and the stories they tell of his ability with a deck of cards are amazing.

Non-magicians sometime ask if magicians reveal all their secrets or take them to their grave. In the case of DOC I'm sure there are quite a few "secrets" that will disappear with his passing. He had a huge amount of knowledge about the subject of gambling combined with real world experience... but he was also very secretive, as you would expect. Rest in Peace DOC.... you made a name for yourself in this world and we will speak of you often, while having a beer and arguing over who was the best of the best. You will always be at the top of that list.”

The news is traveling fast. Dang, I never had the opportunity to watch him work. At this time, rest well, know that you were loved Worldwide. See you in a bit.

Thanks guys…
There is greatness in all things, regardless of which side you’re on. And that’s why the outlaw, Jesse James and the lawman, The Lone Ranger both had greatness in them. Not for the same things, but in how well they did what they did. And in that they remain highly regarded by all those that continue to remember what they choose to believe is important never to forget about them.

Jesus didn't recommend his disciples copy the cupidity of the "clever thief," but did admire his intelligence, foresight and resourcefulness... Smile
