I want to make a certain type of utility device that will quickly vanish small objects. Al Baker had a good version of this device. (I'm avoiding naming the device to avoid exposure in an open forum, but I trust that experienced magicians know the utility device to which I am referring ...) I would appreciate any recommended brands of the type of elastic material to use. I got some off of Amazon but it is wayyyy too light weight, was more of a beading elastic. I am not looking for the one made by Uday as I need more than 5m at a time. Any help is appreciated."

I needed some for one of my own projects as well. While I am familiar with the device you're referring to, I'm not sure if this site will carry the "gauge" you're likely seeking, however, I was happy with mine and thought you might like to peruse their page.

I would suggest trying JoAnne Fabrics - surely there is one in San Antonio? (Plus they have an online site to order from.)

I have spent years looking for the thick elastic, and never found it on the consumer market. If is was not for a generous I would have never found the proper strength elastic. He had them made special for him in Germany. As a last resort you can use sever strands of the elastic at fabric stores until you get the strength you desire. To keep the together, use the method girls use to make pig tails with their long hair. I am sure you can find the method on the Internet. |
