I have def heard way more laymen questioning a deck of cards when magicians perform rather then a wallet. However, magicians criticize wallets more then decks it seems. I’m not saying this is a perfect Wallet because I don’t think there are any out there but just rather saying I do see various needs for multiple peeks. This is not unheard of. |

Ah but “heat” is a different thing altogether. There is no real intrinsic heat on a deck of cards or a wallet. We create heat in many respects.

Like I say I rarely use more than one peek, my everyday carry is the secret tannery Hi-Jak wallet. I have used the Jaks peek for decades and this version is so nice it was a no brainer for me. Before this it was the standard secret tannery jaks, and before that it was a ‘normal’ off the shelf wallet I found that happened to be a Jaks!
I have seen and bought many wallets in my time but never found one to change the habit of a lifetime! |

I agree, horses for courses!
By the way here is a picture of my Hi-Jak next to the Cassidy wallet I bought in 2014, which looks more bulky? https://ibb.co/fnk5ttT |

My philosophy on peeks and wallets has been the same for many many years. However I do like to try new things and enjoy checking out different options!
I carried the Cassidy for a while and it’s not a bad wallet by any means but I just don’t need all the stuff it offers. Like you say a lot of it is down to personal preference! |

To give credit where credit is due, I would like to give kudos to both How and BeefyBill for having a polite and respectful discussion on the merits of different peek wallets. I would love to see more folks carry on like this here on the Café. This is much closer to how discussions go in real life when you aren't faceless and anonymous.

Cheers, I agree that things could often be a bit (read a lot) more constructive around here. In this vein, and now that I have revealed that I have used the Cassidy in the past here are some more honest thoughts about it that may or may not help anyone looking at it.
Back in the day it came with no instructions whatsoever, however, it was sold on this basis. Buyers were aware of this fact and it was expected that if you bought this wallet you had prior experience of peeks and wallets and could work out its functions by exploring it yourself. This for me was no issue and I quickly worked everything out without any problems. I have noticed however that in the new blurb this is not mentioned. If instructions are now provided then there is no problem, but if not, people are quite rightly going to be very disappointed, especially as instructions and even multiple routines are now expected as standard. The five peeks mentioned break down as follows.... Four of them are technically 'back to the wallet' peeks. There are two places to peek with two access points for each (meaning 5 peeks is a bit of a misnomer) One is very similar to another wallet and is 'Hiding Out' on the right hand side. The other is on the left and I hadn't seen it elsewhere at that point. It is quite nice to be fair, some may find it a little dated these days but with some good routining it is a perfectly serviceable peek. If you are familiar with peek wallets the fifth peek is easy to work out by looking at the picture, it begins with an 'S' you see. In the one I have it can't be used with the card landscape as it is not big enough so would have to be used portrait. I'm not sure if this has been altered in the new version or not but I wasn't too keen on it for this reason. The area for bills is in two sections and there is a hidden five slot index built in here. There are also a ton of other card slots in the wallet itself. Including the index, I counted about 20 slots overall so if you are someone who likes to stack their wallet out this would be a good option. If you filled every available hole though (ooh err) it would be fatter than Sankey's portfolio. Overall it does do what it says it does. If you don't subscribe to the more modern, minimilistic styles and like a more traditional wallet with more storage then the Cassidy is worth consideration. I know for a fact that I could pop this in my pocket tomorrow and go out and perform with it confidently with no issues whatsoever, it's just that it isn't my first choice, and to be brutally honest, it's far from it. One other thing worth noting is that while the blurb says - "The best-kept secret of top mentalists since 2009" It doesn't point out that the quotes are from the same period. So when you read things like "has one of the cheekiest peeks I've ever come across" and "It is THE best on the market today!" it is worth remembering that things change, and a lot of wallets have come out since 2009. To sum up I think it is a perfectly workable wallet if it is the type that suits you. It is probably worth mentioning the Hideout as an alternative if this is the kind of wallet you like. I prefer it as it's a bit less fussy. I would give it an 7.5 out of 10 if it suits you, and a 1 out of 10 if it doesn't. That may sound glib but it is what it is! Generally on wallets I feel that the rate they are being released is a nightmare for inexperienced or new mentalists. By the time you've received your razor, the shadow has come out. By the time you have unwrapped your nexus the Hermes has landed. My genuine advice is to find a wallet that does the one or two things you are interested in well and challenge yourself to use it for a year without even looking at anything else. By doing this, you will know if it is a keeper or not. Saying the Orphic is a 'keeper' after two days is daft, it just is! Also beware of wallets that offer you two indexes, a CTW, a switch, seven peeks, a Mullica, an SUC a card to envelope and somewhere to keep your shoes. Jack of all trades master of none is a good old adage for a reason. All that being said, and rather hypocritically, I have more wallets than I care to mention. Checking them out is fun and can improve your knowledge, especially with the quality of the tutorials (shoutout 1914) but don't let this excitement get in the way of nailing down a good, solid, reliable mainstay as this is what will allow you to actually get out and perform well, and at the end of the day, that's what it's all about!! Be lucky. |

The benefit is now it is released with downloadable video and PDF! They have released many versions over the years this being the most upgraded from what I’ve been told.
