Thanks, Bill, much appreciated -- very helpful. And Tortuga, you were right! How could I ever have doubted you?

I’ll never forget the first time I saw René Lavand’s oil and water on World’s Greatest Magic in the early 90’s. Such a beautiful effect. R.I.P.

Although it's a little different than most Oil & Water routines, EZ Oil & Water by Nathan Kranzo is excellent. I get great reactions to it! It's in his book, EZ Card Magic.

I recently got a chance to watch through Joshua Jay's Talk About Tricks DVD set, and the first item on it is an Oil and Water. It's a 3 phase routine with 8 cards that flows nicely together, really liked it when I saw it. You won't be disappointed with it (plus the whole set is pretty solid) if you're looking for an impromptu, relatively easy 8 card oil and water.

I use an Ed Marlo Oil & Water routine; there's different sources where you can learn it.
I'm not sure but I think Bill Malone's DVD's, and The Cardician. (Or you could pick up Cardially Yours.) One of those routines, as taught by Bill Malone, is very easy and just looks totally impossible. I also remember Daniel Garcia teaching an Oil & Water routine on his Project DVD's. |

Hi Proximo,
In the same spirit as Corbett, I'd be interested in knowing where I can find the Bill Malone routine you mentioned: "One of those routines, as taught by Bill Malone, is very easy and just looks totally impossible." Thanks, Bob |

Just my 2 cents:
The Magic Way - Juan Tamariz from non-gaffed, heavy gaffed, digital sleight of hand, everything you need about oil and water Magic from my heart - Juan Tamariz Of course the late Aldo Colombini had many versions collected over the years. I came across Nathan Kranzo had a pretty easy to do version a few years back. Not to mention that Dani Daortiz and Migel Gia both have many versions.
Most memorable moment - with Maestro Juan Tamariz & Consuelo Lorgia in FISM Busan 2018.

I like a lot the oil and water version from Philippe Molina.
It required some gaff cards, but I really love the handling : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_0f_0HGI5M |

This is very cute, PoumKa. According to either Molina's website or another, I forget, the cards can be handed out from examination. But you say the trick uses some gaff cards...? I can see why you like the handling -- there's a minimum of fuss, which makes the trick look like real magic.
Does anyone know if this is available in English, or with English subtitles? My French reading skills are okay, but not my listening skills. Welcome to the Café, PoumKa. Bob |

For the english version, I don't know if there is one. But the presentation is very simple, he explains that he has some yellow cards, representing the oil, and some blue cards, representing the water. Try to mix them : fail ! S...ugar, let-s try again : mix and... fail again ! Third time, we don't mix them all, just the yellows on top of the blues. And... mixed ! Finally, he shows us 4 yellow and 4 blue cards. At this point, you cant let the spectator handle the cards, but he explain some switch in order to do this. Hope it helps. |

I recall Daniel Garcia having a pretty solid ungaffed Oil and Water.

The great Michael Skinner put out the best one I have seen, in my opinion. It was in his book Classic Sampler. There was a kerfuffle about crediting of one of the phases. Skinner actually owns up not knowing who to give credit for it in the book himself so I do not think he was trying to steal anyone else’s thunder.
