Hello Everyone, hope you are all doing well.
Has anyone else seen this? Bicycle Card Box Opening on Opposite side. Meaning that the card flap, "tax" sticker and half moon are all on the front of the card box where it states: "Bicycle" big and bold and sometimes has/had the "Free App" circle on the front and sometimes states "Standard" etc. It is that front of the box has the tax sticker, half moon cut out and the flap that tucks into the FRONT of the box, and not like the usual boxes where the flap tucks into the "back" of the box (for ref: the "back" is where there used to be the printing full back of the card) Any help on this would be greatly appreciated Click here to view attached image. |

Thanks for the question.
I am wondering if anyone has seen a bicycle deck case cut like this before, with the opening on the opposite side of the card box. And if anyone were to respond to say something along the lines of; "Yes, they have" and/or give anymore information, maybe they were to say "Yes, yes, we see that all there time...it was because of the year when..." etc., then I was thanking them in advance for any help. Help in understanding if this deck case is a mistake, was it just a thing they did for awhile, maybe they boxes were cut that way for a very specific reason or effect blah blah blah. Thanks again for the question. |

I guess everyone has seen card boxes with the flap and "tax" stamp on the Front of a bicycle card box and it is no big deal.
I had never seen it until I found these. |

I'm a fan of Jay Sankey's. He's based in Canada, I've noticed that his decks (while not a perfect match to your picture) often have the "Bicycle" branding and sticker seal on what we'd call the "back" of the tuck.
I assume the International Plating Card Company (the name USPC operates under internationally) reworked the tuck to make room any French they wanted to include. But I'm not completely sure. Here's a screenshot from a trailer of his showing the "Canadian" tuck box. ("Canadian Tuck Box" could be the name of a Jay Sankey effect!!) Best of luck tracking down details! |

I saw this a few years ago and it is quite unique. More of an error than where the box design is actually going. I grabbed a few just because and I would encourage any card collector to do the same.
