If a magic experiment is science in effect, then let it be what it was born to be: a scientific tyranny, brutal cold hard facts, merciless and inhumane. Science has got nothing to do with human emotions or morality or anything like that. Let the presentation be entirely irrational and humane and let the experiment be entirely rational. Then, ladies and gentlemen, what will be so amazing and amusing about our magic, is the entirely irrational will be proved by entirely rational means.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

From my "Zons" coin routine ...
I see a smug smile over there. You are thinking, “It actually just vanished from his hand and reappeared at his elbow.” You could be right! But it is just science after all as I will demonstrate. Yet, it is something scientists don’t know about yet – or admit it. We can’t control it so it isn’t mechanics, or make it predictable as a technology. So, we blame it on magic. All of you have heard of String Theory, right? Scientist don’t like to use the word “magic” so they have made up an explanation of how the universe works. All matter is made up of little packets of energy called Strings that communicate with each other through musical notes. The most important of these are “Bozons” which are packets of attentional energy that kind of glue other Strings together. With me so far? You have great imaginations! Now, what scientists haven’t gotten around to explaining is what happens to all of those bozons when the matter changes to energy, gets sucked into a back hole or no one is paying attention to it. They should ask magicians because we have been playing with this phenomenon for centuries. Those free bozons cluster together and lie around waiting to be needed again. Instead of “string” think “yarn” that leaves lint about that forms dust bunnies under your sofa. We call these clumps “Zons” – which is why I invoked them a while back. You thought it was a magic word. You encounter Zons all of the time. Every loose your train of though? You ran into a Zon. Ever have a sudden inspiration unrelated to what is a happening at the moment? Well, you ran into a Zon filled with someone else’s lost thought. Ever lose a key and then find it exactly where you looked before? It was temporarily masked by a Zon that dis-focused your attention. Premonition, deju vu, ghost? Probably just Zons gluing random thoughts together. They do get your attention. Magic for you and science for me. “Pay attention” and I will demonstrate. I mean, if you all will contribute some thought energy a bunch of Zons will be attracted that I can use to do impossible things.

Science is objective, which is more than can be said for scientists.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

While, the rational experiment is the means by which the irrational entertainment is proved, the irrational entertainment itself is most beguiling and paradoxically can help prove its irrational self, rational.
i.e. “Cardini covers up every steal with a carefully designed, natural gesture. The monocle drops from his eye as he registers bewilderment; in that moment a steal has been made. A laugh comes when he blows smoke through a monocle he has been wearing, without a glass: another crucial move has occurred. An imitator at the Palladium once did his act down to the last move, without realizing why certain mannerisms he had copied were a part of the technical usefulness of the originator's act.” http://cardini.tv/text/18/ Naturalness is an entirely vague concept and nobody rationaly questions the irrational.
