Confession time, just had to chime in on this again.

Okay, so recently I had to let stuff go because I'm just not performing professionally anymore (still hoping to change that) and I've needed the cash. I've owned a lot of book tests and I have sold just as much. They're like wallets to me, and I've done the same with wallets until I've finally found the ones I'd buy once more after selling, knowing they were "the ones" which I found out only from not having them. Only a few book tests have survived the "must keep" test. I just have too much stuff and have been slimming down lately for head space, as it were. But now I'll be back up to owning three again and now I'm complete.

As I recently sold The Alchemist and Frankenstein because of funding and lack of chances to use them, I knew I might regret it, and I did. SO... I just wanted to chime in here and say I picked Frankenstein back up, for those of you on the fence about what you get, as you might like hearing this and it might help you decide.

In short: It's truly at least tied for the best I've owned if not the best itself. The other ones serve a different purpose and are kind of in their own category as well (Celebrity Presage...so excellent! Area 2 Nano, also excellent.) But this one wins the most useful and practical all-around award in my opinion.

Longer version:

It's often suggested a good way to gauge the value of something to us is if it's something we'd purchase again if we lost it all in a fire. The Frankenstein Book Test by Kaleb Wade is simply a 'yes' as I've just proven. I have those two others I won't let go of, but of these three, this is the one I'll perform most and tied for my absolute favorite (with Celebrity Presage) of all the ones I've owned including all the current and past favorites on the market.

To be honest, it was after seeing David's video that reminded me that I needed this one on the shelf again; it's just worth it and I won't let it go this time as I'll want it when I'm back performing especially.

If you perform book tests, this one just has so much going for it. It's examinable, it's got multiple reveals, it's great for strolling, stage and closeup. It's innocent and fun. But what's best is you know can really tell Kaleb is a worker and has performed this A LOT. Therefore, the routines he includes will be reputation makers and this one effect can really be played as strong as you want or as casual as you want.

For whatever reason he's still "flying under the radar" and I'm not sure why. Maybe he prefers it, but personally I use his other routines on a regular basis when doing casual magic (I'm that guy, always doing magic everywhere. Ha! And sometimes I'm asked for more and Kaleb's effects fit the bill).

Again, just my two cents. But if you even have a remote interest in book tests, honestly, I've owned a lot and this is just one you need to own. You will not regret it. I just can't help but sing its praises!

I really like the look of The Alchemist as it's nice having something that looks like a contemporary novel. Does anyone know why they stopped doing it? Was it because of copyright?
