Anyone from Australia here to explain The Drop Bear to us? Is it real?

Are they real? I am not from Australia but I assure you they are real, they have to be real because I read about them on the internet.

There are some suggested folk remedies that are said to act as a repellent to Drop Bears, these include having forks in the hair or Vegemite or toothpaste spread behind the ears.

My Australian buddy has a big scar on the back of his head. None of us knew for years, until he got a buzzcut one day. He'd been on a youth trip in their equivalent of Boy Scouts, got rushed to the hospital after one came down on him
