I saw a show recently where the magician had a paper tube and he gave 4 children silks then took them from them and put them in the paper tube. And then pulled out one end a small part of red silk, and gave it to a child who he had back up a few feet, then out the other end he pulled out a small bit of another color silk (that he had put into the tube) and handed that to another child and then had them each back up, a few feet at a time until the silk was almost stage length, with the tube in the middle which he took off and unrolled. Anyone know what effect this is? Would it be in Rice's? Thanks!!!

Not in Rice I’m sorry to tell you. It’s an Abbott Magic effect, called Duke’s Dye-Version. Great trick, easily learned and based in part on Al Baker’s Silk dyeing effect.

It was released in Abbott's book on silk magic which is available from Amazon for $10.

It might be helpful to look at the posts in this recent thread regarding Duke's Dye Version. It has information on how to put together a set.

I actually dyed some of these streamers up with a red section on one end and blue on the other. The origin of this idea was Gene Gordon.
