Jim Kleefeld has done a lot of research on the topic. He's even written a book.

So, going by that, I would tend to think it's two words.

To bd more precise, most such tests are WORD tests.

Exactly why I created effects allowing for a reveal of character, plot, setting and emotion from a freely selected page. even a novel provide by a stranger.

All that work for a single word never made sense to me, and probing questions even less. Never understood why it is "test" at all.
