It's the spooky season, officially!

The Hermit Magazine this month features:

Kyle Leon shares his "Close-Up Miracle Prediction." As you'd expect from Kyle, there's lots of clever thinking in this mental magic / card prediction effect!

Scott Baird teaches "Central Intelligence", and "Iterant Intelligence". The faro shuffle and the Searchers plot are put together to trap a selected card (or two!) in these progressive sandwich routines.

Patrik Kuffs returns to The Hermit, teaching "Drawing a Blank". If you've ever wanted to do a simple drawing duplication effect on a platform or stage, this routine might be the one for you!

Chiam Yu Sheng walks you through his spooky packet trick, "Zombie Apocalypse." You'll want to get a set of the specially printed cards from Alvo Stockman's "Zombie Monte", available from Penguin Magic, in order to do this routine.

Rico Weeland deals you in with his routine "Thank You, Eddie". Here's a card routine with beautiful construction and well thought-out sleight of hand, from someone who thinks deeply about his magic! Four aces disappear, and then reappear one at a time at any positions named or selected!

Plus, look for some bits of business by Chris Mayhew (his take on that old thumb gag, "Thumbnail"), and John Carey teaches "The One and Only", a packet card to pocket routine. Not least, Jay Sankey returns with his regular feature, "Sankey Says"- this time, discussing the secret psychology of criticizing people.

And, don't forget to participate in both the casting call (magicians wanted!) and the #hermitmagicchallenge for the month- which might be a bit puzzling!

As always, you can check out the Hermit from or by finding it on when it's uploaded.

Cheers all,
