I have already made one up in Tyvek and when I put them away in my wallet it automatically does the switch. I reopen as an after thought ringing in the extreme burn I have made out of them in Tyvek too and turn it into cash Gaz

Do you order letter size sheets of tyvek and then cut your own?

I order A4 sheets Nathan and cut them down myself.
I have various grades of paper as I buy them in packs which contain various thicknesses. No one questions the paper and they never ever have with extreme burn that I have been using in Tyvek for years. I also do a multidimensional routine where they create a starter, main course, dessert and finally a restaurant. The receipt that’s been on the table from the start is from Pizza Hut perfectly printed by me on ordinary paper that feels about right and no one ever has questioned it. They are so amazed that you have predicted everything in advance. They handle the receipt and it’s a perfect copy of a real Pizza Hut receipt. The thermal paper is good but I certainly wouldn’t buy refills once I have legitimately bought the original from Saturn as I have Gaz |

Yeah I've gotten tyvek sheets for other stuff myself. Just love the way it lasts. I'm looking forward to Murphy's getting some and then enjoying this awesome effect. Paul's a worker. And I may have to order more tyvek to have an indestructible version as well.

Is there a specific kind of thermal paper that better resembles receipts, or will any old thermal paper do?

I have also done this with thin normal paper and curled it like receipt paper does.
After the routine I just tear the whole lot up and bin them in front of the spectators as they are then irrelevant to the method Gaz |

As I have this on my Christmas list, I was researching Tyvek paper on Amazon and noticed it comes in varying thicknesses. Care to share what weight you've found works best? DuPont Tyvek 43gm A4 is my guess.

43gsm is exactly the same as the "newsprint paper" from frisk. feels good for me compared with a real receipts...

Just a tip with thermal paper - I have noticed in the supermarket during the pandemic that handling receipts while my hands still have a small trace of antibacterial hand gel causes marks and smudges on the paper - it must react with it some way. For anyone that is table hopping and using hand gel between tables, probably best to make sure your hands are completely dry before touching these if they are made from real thermal paper
On the effect itself, I have used Powerball 60 for many years, and recently started using Trivia by Craig Petty, which while themed differently, is a very similar sort of routine in that they are both book tests using different objects. I find that both effects have the same issue - spectators have to follow your instructions correctly. For anyone that has worked in restaurants or evening events, you will know that as the evening wears on, getting spectators to follow the necessary instructions for these types of effects becomes more tricky, as the more inebriated they are the more the potential there is to make unintentional mistakes. My question is, obviously without revealing the method, is there a similar amount of procedure involved in this on the spectator’s end, or is it more ‘drunk’ proof? |

Magicmax this doesn’t suffer from those issues at all. The method is completely different but I get what you mean with those other effects.
This is drunk proof in that respect Gaz:) |

They handle the receipt and it’s a perfect copy of a real Pizza Hut receipt” The other reasons I mentioned this are twofold. One is because if it was so important I would have got my Pizza receipt printed on thermal paper. Two A4 thermal paper is as cheap as chips anyway so I could just re print transaction or indeed the receipt for Pizza Hut anyway all day long if I wanted to Gaz |

Thanks for the info Gaz.
Not sure what things are like in the rest of the country, but there are still plenty of paper receipts out there. I know big supermarkets all seem to use thermal paper, but there are plenty of places here in Edinburgh that still use normal paper receipts, petrol stations, the post office, our local co-ops etc. so I personally wouldn’t have an issue making up different receipts (assuming I can once I know the system). Also, I’ve had a copy of Will to Read in my wallet for years - doesn’t get as much use now as I prefer Thy Will Be Done by Alexander Marsh, but it still sits in my wallet and has been sat on, folded and unfolded hundreds of times - it’s by no means pristine, but still perfectly serviceable, I really don’t think using ordinary paper instead of Tyvek is an issue personally. |

I'm really sorry but I'm not keen on this. I tried it on my 10 year old son, as soon as I handed him the receipts, he said, "Dad, have you just printed these off" I said, no they're from Asda and Sainsburys, and he gave me that stare.... He says, why is there nothing on the back of the receipt, its just plain. If it was real it would be printed on the back....
I checked every receipt, real one, and he's right, they all have printed backs, not one of them is blank. This is an issue for me if a 10 year old spots it, surely an adult will. That aside, not really keen on the method either, it just doesn't work for me. Maybe if you don't mind the blank backs and you can justify the method, then it's OK for you, but it's a no from me. Got mine on FB for sale. I wanted to love this, I really did, and Saturn have some awesome effects, EL DIABLO is amazing! But I don't like this, sorry. |

In my own experience of performing this professionally(which is in the 100’s)I have never had anyone question the receipts. That’s just my own personal experience though and I understand everyone’s is different. Naturally each trick isn’t for everyone but I welcome the feedback and thank you for your honesty and views Paul |

I think your son is in a real minority here - I mean - How does a 10 year old kid know what Sainsbury’s and Asda receipts look like exactly? How often does a 10 year old go supermarket shopping at multiple supermarkets and handle the receipts afterwards and commit to memory their exact specs? I think the fact that you yourself didn’t know and had to check all the other supermarket receipts illustrates that people - adults - just don’t know or care. I’m not doubting your son’s observation - he’s obviously incredibly intelligent - I just wish you would try it in real world on other people (and adults) first before you reject it. Unless you’re unlucky enough to pick a spectator who actually works on a supermarket checkout and handles that exact identical till roll - nobody questions it.

I know most adults won't realise, but it bothers me.
But it's more about the method, I just don't like it, I'm sure 100s of people will love it and use it, but I can't justify what you need to do, it doesn't suit me, I can't work it. Again, I'm sorry, its just not for me. To be fair, my son does pick up on small details, he recognised straight away they weren't real, but as you say, this is probably minority. He always notices little things like that. |

Receipts have flown by with everyone I have performed this too and the method is strong.
I wouldn't let Ollys review put anyone off of this. |
