Hey guys,
I'm looking for an easy way (at the moment) to produce a small live animal such as a turtle in a more or less close up situation. I see there is a "Crystal Box", "Mini Dove Pan", "Mirror Box", "Circus Wagon"... I don't have any experience in this area - what would you recommend me? Thanks

What do you mean by "more or less close up situation"? Are you sitting at a table or walking around. If seated or at least at a table, a dove pan would work. You wouldn't want to use a mirror box if you are truly in a close-up situation. Carrying props around for a walk around situation might be difficult.

If the more or less close-up situation does not have bad angles (i.e. people sitting on your extreme sides or behind you) you might consider a small box, like the one shown, which was made by Mikame: the "Mikame Treasure Box". Usually used for producing silk handkerchiefs or other small items. Now out of production, but they show up from time to time on eBay and in magic auctions ...and there are other makers of similar boxes. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (video demo of Mikame Treasure Box - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBtI_xwg8dg) A Devil's Handkerchief might work.(although a Devil's Hank tends to be better used for a vanish, rather than a production.) The various methods for producing a rabbit or a dove using a lo _d b _ g could probably be adapted to producing a turtle. Probably the final load for a Chop Cup or Cups and Balls routine could be a turtle (people have used baby chicks, so why not a turtle?) |

A homemade mini turtle (dove) harness and pocket, like dove workers use might work using a pocket hank.
Or maybe just palm the small turtle as you show the hank. Tom

You could use an "egg bag". Show the bag, turn it upside down, twist it, slap it against you hand, let a spectator reach inside to grab the bottom of the bag to turn it inside out ... nothing in that bag. (all standard egg bag moves) Then reach in and produce the turtle.

How small is small? One that fits under a chop cup small or one that is too large to fit in a chop cup?
