Also mine will sometimes stuck when I open the door. Or wait about five seconds after removing the sides. But I think it gets better after using it a few times...i hope so....

But don’t you see that the instructions tell you to poke a sword through the back to get it out if it sticks?
So that means that it’s not unusual.

I think they put that in as an after thought. But all good, in way the fact it gets stuck could be a positive thing because it shows that there is definitely no room for movement in the case. My overall thoughts on this is that it is one of the best Tenyo items released |

I dipped the two clear hinge tabs on the clear door into the hot water at the same time for 5 seconds or so. Then gently squeezed the tabs inwards a bit. The door now fits perfectly and does not come off. Was a quick fix that worked great for me. Thought I would share. |

@ J M Talbot: Very good tip/fix. Hot water quickly softens the plastic (PET or PETE) and hardens equally fast on cooling. Thank you for sharing.

Received mine. Some pros and cons.
Pros: Classic Tenyo. This has the mechanical ingenuity of their best stuff. Anyone remember Prison Box or the Mystery Chinese Box? It's up there with those. Solid construction. Considering Tenyo is mass produced plastic toys, I was impressed with the solid build. Can be made 100% examinable. Never great when these odd little contraptions can't be handed out. This one can. At $17 the price is right. They could sell this north of $40. If it wasn't produced by mass toy company, it would be. Cons: A bit knacky- Not a huge issue, but as others have said the little guy can get stuck and you need to use the sword to get him out. Activating the device can be a bit knacky. Probably just needs to be broken in. As mentioned, it can sometimes (but strangely not always) be a little loud. Nothing that would tip off method but not ideal. To make it 100% examinable you need to buy two which is absurd. They could have easily given us an extra clasp or two (would cost them a penny) for a simple simple switch making it totally examinable. 9/10

On a leaflet in the box it states that if the figurine does not fall out with the case upside down, to insert a sword into a hole at the bottom and push it out (but I guess a slight tap will also suffice), maybe becomes better after use.It also states that it will not work if the figurine is not inserted all the way to the bottom of the indentation, and to push the figurine all the way down (which is probably why it may get stuck a bit). I find that I don't need to do this as
I just drop it in and it sits perfectly inside (I don't push it down), and drops out easily. As for the sound it can be minimized by applying and removing the clip slowly. I have two of these so will be adapting one pair of clips, just in case I wish to switch them. |

Agree with Platt's review.
I wish this were a little less noisy but since you are dealing with so many pieces of plastic I believe the spec will believe that the noise is caused by pieces rattling or touching each other, if they even hear it all. I haven’t found it to be knacky though. But I would advocate activating it repeatedly in quick succession maybe 20-30 times to help work it in and loosen things up a bit. Just for the sake of comparison, I have 2 of these and in one the figure falls right out of the case very easily when the case is turned over. In the second the figure gets mildly stuck but not so much so that it requires a sword to push him out, just a slight tap of the case on my hand will set him free. I honestly can’t decide which one I prefer. In a previous post in this thread someone mentioned performing this in the same manner you would the classic metal block in matchbox effect. IOW, you begin with the figure inside the case with all the swords already running thru the case as well. I’m thinking of starting out in this position, showing the case with the figure and the swords already inserted in the case and explaining this was the crime scene after what appeared to be a gruesome murder. Then performing Nyman's Killer Elite before removing the swords and showing that the victim not only survived this attack but was somehow miraculously left unscathed as well. But just not sure if the Mr Danger effect would lose too much of its impact if done in that way. I mean probably 90% of the time I would just perform the Mr. Danger effect by itself as a stand alone piece for people I know. But there may be times when I want to build it out a little as part of a more full-bodied routine. I don’t know, just mulling over possibilities as I work on other projects. |

I mentioned this on another thread ... Tenyo of Japan...
Allowing you and the participant to insert a dagger one at a time, you could use one of these as an addition to the effect ... https://www.staples.com/Staples-Easy-Button/product_606396 Just a thought... |

Please stop saying this is 100% examinable. It isn’t, even with the two copies version. It will pass casual examination, not scrutiny. I figured it out with out even reading the instructions. I didn’t even pick up the item(s) that make this work to do it. Switching out the item(s) in question modified from a second copy doesn’t cure the problem. I guess each to their own.

It might be inaccurate to say that any gimmicked prop is 100% examinable because probably someone at some time will figure it out. It's often said that some gaffed coins are 100% examinable because they lock together. But the heads and tails are usually not in the correct orientation after a performance so it isn't technically 100% examinable, but still 99.9% of spectators never notice this discrepancy. I think Mr. Danger is equally difficult to detect the method. Furthermore, it is usually accepted that when a prop is said to be 100% examinable we are referring to a generally casual inspection, or perhaps a bit beyond that, but it should not be inferred that they can take it home and put it under a microscope. Finally, a magician finding a gimmick on something that they know is a gimmicked magic prop is not the same as a layman discovering it. |

Uh oh, let's learn from the Quantum Deck and not devolve into arguments over examinability. gumbimagic is technically correct -- suspecting the only way this could really work, I discovered the secret immediately upon inserting the figure into the case without even closing the lid. That being said, I would not hesitate to hand out the case, figure and pins to a spectator. If they do what I did and figure it out on casual inspection, good for them. Likely won't happen much.

But IMO that is different than discovering something upon examination. You cannot really control what a spectator might suspect. But as you also said, I don't wish this to devolve into an argument of examinability. For those who don't feel this prop is examinable or that there is no need to have it examined, then you are of course perfectly free to do as you please. |

I would have paid $30-40 without hesitation for a more clever implementation that can be handed over
to the spectator without hesitation - But unfortunately, this implementation has 3 obvious weak points. |
