Sure, other torn and restored are fine, I just don't think 9 y/os relate to a newspaper is all. It has been a decade since I read a newspaper.

Most of the magic I do for 9s I do for adults, sometimes with a different patter.

Dtrickys, you have far too many props! What’s the point of buying all those effects if you’re not going to use them?

Anyway, to the matter at hand: My approach was to do a magic show for younger kids up to 7 years old. Then I offered a magic workshop for ages 8 – 12. Went over great. As well as birthday parties, libraries also booked my magic workshops.

Just make sure they don’t sneak in any 7-year-olds!

Arthur, are you saying that you don't perform Magic for Kids over 9?

No Mary, I did perform magic shows for older kids at daycare centers. One show for ages 3 – 5, followed directly by another show for the “latch-key” kids, ages 6 – 12.

But for birthdays, as stated above, I preferred doing magic workshops for the older kids. It gave me a unique selling point for the parents, plus I could upsell magic sets & props to generate more income.

Haha! I was, too, KC.

But after selling most of my stuff (keeping only a few essentials), I'm much, much happier. Plus I now focus on presentation and showmanship for the routines I regularly perform.

Not constantly being distracted by the latest bright and shiny things helps that focus tremendously.

Quality, rather than quantity, as the saying goes.
