The Hermit Magazine is pleased to announce that pre-orders for the collected, printed first volume of the magazine will be open and available on December 26th! Books are scheduled to start shipping out mid-January.
Containing every issue of the first year of The Hermit Magazine ( www.hermitmagic.com ) along with some bonus routines and ideas that have not yet been published for the routines already shared, this set is comprised of TWO 8.5"x11" BOOKS, EACH 300 PAGES long! The magic comes from The Hermit's 35 contributors (so far) and is accompanied by 400 illustrations drawn by me (Scott Baird)! See the mockups and get more details from the pre-order page- www.hermitmagic.com/in-print ... SOME PRAISE FOR THE HERMIT: "It's a great, new magazine full of clever magic… in the style of the great, old magazines that were full of clever magic. Just when you think that those good old days are over... !" - Jim Steinmeyer "Reading and learning magic from a broad number of underground technicians and performers is entertaining. It's a simple pleasure in life that The Hermit delivers every month." - Lee Asher "The Hermit brings back the sensation of receiving a monthly meeting of magical minds in the mail and excitedly tearing open the envelope." - David Regal "In this digital age of downloads and e-zines, it's rare to see anyone still producing hardcopy magic magazines like The Hermit. The excellent production quality of The Hermit is only matched by the top-notch magic you get to learn in each issue. Love it!" - Harapan Ong ... The price of the book set is yet to be announced, but please understand that the material has been offered for CAD$10/issue (about $8 USD each month), and it wouldn't be fair to subscribers to now release it for much less. Also, this book set is being offered in YOUR CHOICE of either HARDCOVER OR PAPERBACK. Take your pick! Laminate hardcover is the usual standard for big magic books and collectors, but magazines are nice to have in paperback. I couldn't choose, so I leave that to you! The paperback set will be a slightly more affordable option, as it's less expensive to produce. Local shipping to anywhere in Canada is free, and flat-rate shipping to the rest of North America will also be offered at an affordably low rate. Overseas gets pricey, obviously, as the book set comes in at a hefty 2KG... but shipping will be offered internationally for those interested! Any other questions will be answered on the website on December 26th, but you can also email hermit@hermitmagic.com if you have any further questions. Happy Holidays, Scott Baird. |

Do the hardbacks have a fully sewn binding?
|

Hi Chris,
It's not a sewn/stitch binding, they're casebound (ie: glued). Cost was definitely a factor in this decision. I wish I could hire a team of sequestered nuns to get stitching during the next new moon, but sadly it's not an option at this time. Best, Scott. |

Hi Scott,
Any chance of another reprint of the hardcover? I missed out on the reprint, prefer the hardcover to softcover, and I don’t even whine about glue. Best, Adam |
