I am trying to improve my video preview clip online at my site, http://joejoeonline.com
The orginal clip is 14 megabytes in .mpg format. How can I convert this to .wmv format and compress it so that it can be streamed and start playing very quickly? The utility proggie from Microsoft only works with Windows XP, and I only have Windows 98. Is there anyway I can do this myself? Is there anyone out there that can download my video clip and compress it and convert it to .wmv for me? Thanks, Joe

Are there any ways to stream a video without QuickTime? Is there a flash plugin for streaming video? Does anyone know? HELP!

To get a wmv. file, use Windows Movie Maker.

I would seriously try to talk with whoever is in charge of uploading the demo videos to the Penguin Magic web site . Penguin must be commended for the fact that their videos are the fastest loading , smoothest playing vids on the web.
Notice if you go to most magic web sites and click on a demo you get a tiny little Quicktime window which takes what seems like an hour to load and start playing , or a Windows Media clip which also takes a long time to load up and then constantly stalls for "rebuffering" . (does any Microsoft product actually work ? ) Same with those tiny , fuzzy Real Player clips . What a pain. Now compare with the clips on Penguin : Click on the Quicktime option and you get a large window (twice or three times as large as most clips) with a clip that starts playing almost immediately (if you're on a high speed connection) and the clip itself is well-lit, in focus, and plays very smoothly with good sound quality , too . Even Penguin's Windows Media Player versions of the clips play smoothly . I wish I knew what they were using to upload those clips on Penguin. I know how to export movie files to Quicktime, but to get the same high-quality as Penguin the file sizes end up being huge and it takes a long time to load the clip . Whatever they are doing is the right way to do it. |
