Hello everyone,
I’ve recently started to perform magic at weddings but feel like my close up set is missing a ‘signature’ trick to perform for the bride and groom and other couples at weddings. I know some fellow magicians who have a trick they perform for couples to give them a lasting memory and something to remember on the big day, usually with a theme around love/connection etc. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

One I've had a lot of fun with , for years (I'm 85, Magic 75. Married Blessed "63" years) OK - Now, using 4 cards - 2 any card (prefer pips-) - 2 Queen of Hearts (one can be made out of a Queen of Diamond ???). Cut 1 Queen diagonal. Tape the cut Queen on one of the pip cards Like a flap) and put 2nd pip card on top of the cut queen,, so when held in a fan it would look like - pip-Queen-pip. Now take the whole Queen of hearts , paste a picture of Your/His, Wife ( to be) over the full Queen card. Slip "Your" Queen under the cut Queen Flap - again, so in a Fan = pip,Queen of Hearts, pip. Turning the fan, over you can now slip the center card (Your Queen ) out face down - putting it on the palm of the Groom (?) - asking "what card is it ?". - He'll say "Queen of Hearts" - Turning the card over - you say "Yes, YOUR QUEEN OF HEARTS" - the center (YOUR) Queen could have a Red Back, others Blue.). Hope all is understood ???? (pm me ?) Blessing to All. Ralph ROUSSEAU (Russo)

I use Carl Andrews no gimmick version of Anniversary Waltz called Hula Fusion. Anniversary Waltz is also VERY good , you just need a dbl. back card. Carl Andrew's has a lecture where he teaches it along with other routines. It's also on one of his Dvd's. Perfect for couples.

Check out my "Rings of Troth" ebook. Though designed for an engagement party, it can be use at a wedding or after party.
I personally do not feel a bride and groom should be involved in anything at a wedding except being the center of attention BECAUSE of the wedding, but each their own. The multi-phase routine has a lot of flexibility, with involvement of characters based on the ancient rite of "Pledging Troth" Very strong magic - not for those into "gotcha" or Skill demonstrations. You can segue into other effects for a longer show, but have to make sure your later effects meet the standard set here. write me ken@eversway.com with questions.

I like Sort of Psychic by John Bannon. Just have her think of a card, and have him try to find it (instead of her finding her own). Plenty of room for patter about their connection, finding each other, etc.

He performed "Floating Rose" for my new bride. We also did a D-Lite routine throwing red lights back and forth with some antics. Went over so well. Whenever our reception comes up in conversation the magic is ALWAYS mentioned. The D-Lite routine is the only magic I did, the rest was paying attention to my wife and guests.

If you can come up with a good story for Joshua Jay's Trojan Deck, I think it would be a huge hit!

Waltzing Cheek To Cheek combines Anniversary Waltz with a Triumph-style kicker by I believe Joshua Jay.

There are a number of routines you can adapt using a Dreamlock or Deadlock.

You could easily come up with a version of Confabulous with appropriate patter. For example, ask the bride questions about what she expects for their marriage and write her answers down...then bring out an envelope containing a "Marriage Contract" supposedly filled out a week before the wedding (ala Confabulous) in which the groom has agreed to do all the things she mentioned.
