It would be nice if someone could tell about their experience with showing the 50:50 forcing deck. Unfortunately, I have found few informations about this classic here. On the following video of the webshop MagicTricks.com it looks very simple. Are there nevertheless important things that one should pay attention to? Thanx in advance.

You need them to assume all the cards are different. It is much better that they infer this rather than you tell them explicitly (which will usually raise suspicion).

If you have been using a normal deck, you can do a switch.

Or you could do a casual face-up shuffle that shows only half the deck.

Or you can spread through to remove jokers, or for some other justification.

I always thought that a 50-50 force deck was 1/2 force cards of same value and suit and the other 1/2 being another force card of similar value and suit?

I believe that is a Two-Way forcing deck...

One way is to spread the cards face up for selection, but as they reach for one, stop yourself, saying “that’s too easy” and turn the deck face down for an “honest” selection

That is what I do. It has worked every time for me.

"That is what I do. It has worked every time for me."

What is the advantage of this presentation? Is it that the spectator will not wait long when he takes the second time his card?

One: it shows that there are different cards in the deck (although only on the bottom).

Two: it does take a little bit of time, so when I spread the top slowly they feel like they have to pick a card fairly quickly and

Three: I don't have to say "Look, these cards are different." It's understood by my actions.
