I agree with Unmasked.
You’re not going to see an apology from Weber or any of his cronies that came on here in an attempt to defend him by deflecting, distracting, and diluting. They’re just not wired that way.

They would view that as granting a “win” to people who they believe aren’t half as intelligent as they are.
Eric Mead at least had enough sense to just pop in for a quick word and then get outta town.
Jason England thought he could handle these idiots and simply talk circles around them. But he learned that when you’re outnumbered AND the facts are against you it’s tough to change minds, so eventually he bailed out too.

But an actual apology would be admitting wrongdoing and that just ain’t gonna happen with that crowd.

As much as I hope so, it won’t happen.

Apologising/speaking to Craig would mean admitting from his own mouth that he used a fake account to pretend to be a fan of himself and say “I just hope BS like this doesn’t make Weber stop sharing.”

The shame would be too much and his ego/narcissism would make apologising basically impossible as mentioned.

Very sharp observations on the contributions of newguy's friends and the dynamic of their interactions IMO.
Please check regularly if you are becoming the type of magician Jerry Seinfeld jokes about. (This applies to mentalists as well.)

Indeed, probably the best summary of this thread so far. Basically what I was trying to say but better.

Didn't Jason england say like 10 pages ago that he will answer to the question of Whether he thinks Weber was doing something wrong or not?

This is what Jason said:
Quote:
And because I anticipated your line of "you better answer quickly or else" reasoning, I made a commitment to eventually answer publicly to one of the two. And by "eventually" I mean a day or so. Seeing as I've done nothing wrong, I see no reason to jump to your schedule just because you say to.

That was 10 pages ago and multiple days ago. I don't think Jason ever did answer that question here. At least I never saw him comment after that. Is Jason going to answer?

Nope. You're right - I didn't answer here, until now. But I answered privately to 2 people who would be able to back up my claim that I hadn't fundamentally changed my answer (neither of whom I know personally or have ever communicated with in any other way). Since Saturday night, when I answered them, I took Sunday off from the Café to watch the SuperBowl with friends and have been reading through every newguy post I could find - a task made more difficult with some recent deletions. Finished that last night, as far as I can tell.

So here's your answer: No. You shouldn't use anonymous accounts to support your own products in an opinion-based review, or review-like situation. I still think using an anonymous account to provide factual information about a product is okay (Does it come assembled?, Is shipping included?, etc.).

Yes Jason, we saw your messages. The ones where you called us naive and stupid.

Such a big fuss over such a simple question.

Jason, thanks for that straight foreword and honest reply. Knowing that you took everyones concerns seriously means a lot. If we weren't on the internet I'd buy you a beer. Thank you.

So, if someone does end up making and printing their own receipts, would you consider making an extra and PMing me? The spelling errors and 1990 prices are driving my OCD nuts! Sadly, I'm just not mechanically inclined. In fact, I'm mechanically stupid.

It bugs me that an object, which is suppose to pass as a normal item, can't pass either touch or sight.

Craig, not complaining per se', just giving my honest opinion. But regardless, I'll certainly be using it in some way, shape, or form.

I agree with your answer, except for the factual information is okay to use a fake account. If you are the creator and feel the product is top notch, then why the anonymous-fake account review of your own product. Wouldn’t you want to make sure people are knowing they are getting the answer from the creator? I for one would buy a product where I am able to have the creator answer my questions or seek out their review, but not when it is from someone anonymous post about the product. I find no authenticity in seeing the remarks from an anonymous account…

But I respect your answer.

I wish someone would start a proper review page for EDCeipts in the Tricks and Effects section. I'm tired of wading through the latest salvos to find those thoughts on the effect itself. I thought reviews typically appear in T&E.

There are spelling errors? Ouch! That would drive me nuts, too.

Use errors as a base for humor. Say that the cashier forgot to hit spellcheck before totalling.
Although, I plan to print my own. A purchase line will be, "Four of Hearts......$4.44" etc. for a reveal then produce the other three, 4's etc. Another line for example will say, "NOTE PAPER 546850183 $1.00" which will be a serial number for a dollar note that I will carry on me. Walmart receipts have at minimum a nine digit number for each item.

Amazon has thermal receipt width printers for around $30.
