When you say the “main one that everything else is built on” seems to imply that Craig and his team have added a substantial and worthwhile amount of new material to what has already been published. In regards to your cups and balls and coffee beans comment, I personally would not have a problem with the scenario you described if you added a substantial and worthwhile addition to the concept. One of my pet peeves in magic is when ideas are over-policed. A hypothetical example would be if person A takes an existing method used in card tricks and uses it with let’s say pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. It’s a good trick but doesn’t take the world by storm. Then person B comes along and adds some significant and worthwhile improvements to it and turns a good trick into a great one. But person B is unable to share this publicly or market it because person A created the basic concept first. IMO, the magic community (and one could argue, even their audiences) suffer from this type of attitude. It stifles creativity. In the real world this is solved in a court of law but that is generally not feasible with a magic trick. I’ve always heard it stated that if you modify something 20% then it’s fair game. I’m not an attorney so I don’t know if that is always true. But my guess is that Craig and his team have met this 20% threshold. But I have to add that it is strange to me that Weber and Trono never asked to see the tutorial before requesting that the project be pulled. My speculation is that they got wind of the extent of it and who all contributed to it and they realized it would serve them better to not have seen it and simply hang their argument on the fact that they had previously released a similar effect using receipts. |

But if it is Weber, he didn't lie. He never said he wasn't, only suggested. But, I asked a question and you answered. I have no desire to derail the convo.

There is no mention about the age card principle at all. Readers weee invited to write in to learn more secrets about the receipts but it didn’t say what that was. If they wrote in they got a single sheet of paper referring to the age card principle but nothing was published about it in Genii I am yet to find anyone that did write in. You can see this by checking the Conjuring Archive where you will see the trick in that issue referred to as Matrix Receipts and not Age Receipts. Hope to at helps |

You can take a look at Real Secrets Volume 1, which is being added to the Archive: https://www.conjuringarchive.com/list/book/3006

When the reality is, it's only being added now. Luckily, as Beyonce knows all too well... the internet never forgets. If you check the home page of Conjuring Archive, it tells you the exact date they added it. ![]() Seeing the Streisand Effect unfold in real time really is a sight to behold. |

Videoman brings up some very good points about over-policing and the stifling of creativity. For example: I have an invisible deck handling that uses a normal deck and no gimmicks. It is also 100% sleight-free and clean as a whistle. Some time ago, another fellow published the same basic idea, however his requires an awkward sleight performed at the worst possible time. I had not ever published my routine which is, in fact, a superior handling. My routine would be scrutinized were I to try to market it now. It's a shame because I know an invisible deck accomplished with a normal deck and zero sleights would be a very desirable thing for many.

Craig is a marketing genius and a big WWE fan. He knows that by setting up a beef/grudge he will draw the crowds, just like Ric Flair vs Mick Foley. The crowd then fuels the conflict and creates the groundswell.
Hats off to you Craig. |
