This is absolutely unbelievable; are there people who actually think that this was all a marketing ploy? What madness!
Firstly, look at the damage it has caused to Michael Weber's reputation and the future sales of his work. Second, Michael has many, many, friends in Magic. The consequences for my exposure here are serious and if you don't believe that, then you really have no idea what goes on behind the scenes. I've been mercilessly attacked for the last 7 years by friends of a very well-known thuggish-looking, bearded, and heavily-tattooed mentalist from the UK. They have hacked into my pc, monitored my doings on the net, posed as fans of my work under fake accounts on social media and harassed me (to the point where I have zero social media anymore) stolen my work on several occasions, sent death threats, and on and on. It's still going on. You think I would stick my head out for Craig (whom I'd never met or interacted with before) just so that I could endure more of this? It's not only insulting, it's just downright absurd.

I'm a big fan of Craig and Lloyd's magic podcast. They regularly talk about their approaches to marketing and this thread is a great example of what they mean when they say they are the creators who are by far the best marketers. They often refer to TMC as a great marketing resource for them.
I take my hat off to Craig and his marketing consultant for engineering an amazing attention grabbing stunt off the back of Weber's email. |

The people who insist that this is all a marketing ploy are really saying more about themselves than they are Craig Petty. I can tell you from hard earned experience, people project themselves onto other people in ascribing other's motives. So, if you are a duplicitous and conniving person in general, then you will tend to assume that others are the same way as you. Which means you are more likely to assume somebody is being dishonest or manipulative even when you don't have any evidence that that is the case.
