Oh c'mon, man... you never spend time that is not for the greater good- just to entertain or enjoy yourself? Or because you were fascinated? Or because you felt cheated and want to get to the bottom of smth? I I think the time Webbbbbbbber spent here is a lot more wasted... faking glowing reviews, misleading others into his buying stuff, etc. The amount of interest in this thread clearly shows how betrayed people feel, especially by him not owning up and remaining unapologetic. If you can't appreciate this thread you can just skip it and watch the trailer. No problemo.

BTW These last three posts of newguy sound quite funny... because they were created by Andy the J. Webbbbbber copied them from his blog. Quite sad, IMO. When Andy suggested them I thought they were hilarious, but Webbbbbbber doesn't have the ability to do self-depriciating jokes, too much ego, doesn't work for me.

I couldn't care less about the politics mentioned in this thread. Besides, if these individuals have such big egos, they need to look long and hard in the mirror. Nobody knows of them outside of our fraternity. The reason for my post, and I wouldn't normally go off topic in a thread, but I wanted to write about Sudo. He has shared some of his effects here for free, and I use some of them regularly with my stage and close-up work. They are that good. He is a stand-up guy who didn't have to give away his work, but he did. Anyone to question is he a real person should really lie down for a while and get back up when common sense enters their mind - if at all. If you're reading this Sudo - thank you again for your generosity. Please know that some of your work is being used time and time again over here in Ireland.

I've been following this thread from its inception and I just have to say: what an awful way for Weber to approach this situation and not only that, his sock puppet account "newguy" being discovered is just a whole treasure trove of second hand embarrassment. I'm used to cringe-inducing moments, but even this is teetering at my limits going through the post history. An account dating all the way back to 2004 with an extremely accurate history of all of the account's posts.
I have no issue with anonymity; but having a fake account actively engaging in misleading people and their trust, especially for someone of Weber's stature within this extremely niche community just leaves me speechless. That's a different level. And the level of blunder is astounding. I can't imagine anyone else pulling another "Michael Weber" on of this magnitude, especially in this day and age. I don't want to get the idea that I promote sock puppet accounts, but at the very least don't do it on an account that has a rich post history from the near start of the new millennium and also suspiciously becomes active and pops up like magic whenever their name is mentioned in any threads or posts. Or just don't engage in sock puppetry. Just a thought. |
