Craig has a terrific memory for moves and routines. Just watch any of his YouTube videos.

To forget one of his favourite effects, and to do so over a period of (presumably) months as he 'devised' and marketed an IDENTICAL effect, beggars belief.

Let's just be honest about that.

I won't bang on about this anymore.

Craig's qualities as a magical thinker and creator far outweigh his foibles.

Of which there are many well documented online, foibles that is.

I am pretty sure Craig does a lot of prep and planning and probably research for his videos. You may notice that even when simply talking about a top 10 list he will have a page of notes so that he doesn’t forget a list he has only just compiled in the days prior to making the vid so it is not unfathomable that he could forget a trick he learned and loved a few years ago when learning probably hundreds more. I have even forgotten some of my own creations. Steve Pratt showed me a lovely coin switch at Blackpool and I was blissfully unaware that it was mine until he reminded me.

Watched the video Craig details some of the thinking in this project compared to what was put out by Weber .. Its like comparing a Model-T to a Ferrari. In the past, I also experienced this magic mafia (not from weber but a large magic company) and I'm glad its coming to to light.

As an aside, The Works looks like a superb project and idea! Wish I’d heard about it at the time; I would have subscribed.

Watch the review videos. References to previous effects, creators and products trip off the tongue. It's actually impressive.

Well, I started this thread with no idea who Monchell Mingler was, and I shall go forward making sure I continue to not know who he is. I propose we all ring in the new tradition of always referring to "newguy" Mike Mongchell in such a way that his name is forgotten, buried, and erased from magic history. Not that it ever *was* part of magic history.

Craig - your name will be remembered and spoken of fondly for generations to come, I'm sure.

This is absolutely hilarious and not for the reasons you think.

Has David Blaine ever called Craig Petty to consult on one of his TV specials? Genuine question, I don't know the answer but my guess is no.

What an odd question you've put to Mr. Petty. I find it interesting that being friends with magicians that have been on TV bears absolutely any relevance, to anything, here. Then again, I've never understood autograph hunter culture. I wonder if Weber has ever had a call from Dan Aykroyd or Lisa Minelli. I don't know the answer but my guess is... it's of equal irrelevance.

I'd like to ask a question back though. Do you think David Blaine ever had to use a fake account like Michael Weber has been caught doing here (Newguy) to attempt to smear people's names and also promote his own material for nearly... 20 years Smile

I actually can't get over how cringe that is when you think about it. TWENTY YEARS under a fake account promoting his own material and agenda. Smile Smile Smile

Ok, I'm sorry. You're making this too easy. I eagerly await the return of...

The Mac. Smile

P.s. I know you struggle with using a mouse and keyboard so I went through the 6 page Genii thread myself. The one you keep referencing here about The Works. Found your comments on the first page about how happy you were with your personalised box but then the last 5 pages were filled with complaints from everyone about how they didn't get their goods delivered and when they complained they were told to "Send the box back then!". Amusing. I reckon he should have called David Blaine to help him with the shipping.

Same situation with the RS threads too. No mention anywhere about the Age Reciepts, at all. I guess if you can't trust someone to even be able to use their real name, then who really are the fools to trust newguy to ship people's orders.

And, yes, I know. You received yours all fine and dandy and you're not going to comment on everyone else's troubles because it never happened to you. Object permanence and all that.

If anyone wants to read the thread (this will be deleted if I directly link it) then go to tinyul.com followed by /newguyismichaelweber

I am. Or rather, happy, on behalf of others. I've sat back for years and seen the damage dealt to to others first hand by Trono and Weber.

Normally in the real world, the bad guys get away with it. So to actually see them both finally getting exposed is something I never thought would happen. And it's certainly something we should all celebrate. This is not just a victory for Craig and his project but rather for everyone that's suffered at the hands of bullies in positions of power.

What would be his end game, then? What motivation would he have to knowingly steal an effect and then immediately pull it after it was discovered that it had been done before? How does that make sense? Risk everything on the off chance that nobody notices that the effect has been done before? That seems a little short-sighted and foolish, and those certainly aren't two words I think describe what I have seen of Mr. Petty.

A touch hyperbolic maybe? The only other thread I've seen you post in was for The Fall, you also seemed quite angry there and to revel in what you perceived as Noels downfall. Just consider that the world isn't as black and white as you see it. Allow everyone to have a voice without resorting to insults.
From an outsiders point of view it does appear that there are some remarkable similarities between the two projects. Ultimately that is for Craig and Murphys to resolve. On the other side it is extremely ignominious for Mr Weber to be busted with the fake account. At this point two peoples reputations could be damaged and we can all jump in with our equally worthless opinions. Alternatively they could resolve the matter between themselves and what I see as quite an average trick no matter who created it can be thrown into bottom drawers the world over.

Shh... they're not thinking that far ahead. They're just here to derail. Smile

As most (all) of us have yet to see the 5 or 6 hrs of teaching or will ever see the Fight Club version of the effect under discussion, it all seems a bit premature to be making comparisons.

I'm curious: who cares if Newguy is Weber or not? If he/she/they are, other than talking about himself in the 3rd person and pretending he's not, what has he done wrong (solely speaking to posts on The Café)? Most hide behind screen names, hype up their own or their friend's products, even at the cost of knocking someone else's.

It's attacking character and people that get threads locked or deleted. I for one am interested in the debate, and don't want to see it vanish over the need to out someone's identity.

He’s a liar. That’s what’s wrong. And if others do it they are wrong too.

Without wishing to cause offence to either party

Genii August 2021 has 10 pages on a receipt trick using the age card principle pages 47-57.
The receipts were included in the issue and I still have them.
If you have a subscription you can check this out for yourself and then decide if it’s worth worrying about?
