CONGRATULATIONS, Sudo! This sounds fantastic and I am very happy for you! Any hype is welcome with me and I am looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
How many magicians does it take to change a lightbulb? Regardless, for magicians darkness is a time for d'lite.

Thanks EZ. I really appreciate your support!
When I stated that this is best suited for hardcore Mentalists, that doesn't mean magicians can't perform it - they can. It's just that it has other features built into it which will allow experienced Mentalists to get the most out of it. They can easily get 20 minutes out of this if they wish. Or longer. Or shorter. It's entirely up to the performer to decide how far down the rabbit hole they want to go with this and the effect puts all the emphasis on the participants themselves and does not deal with random mundane objects whatsoever. You'll understand when you see what it entails. I really wish I could say more. It's so hard not to. |

Maybe I'll check it out sometime. |

Sounds intriguing, Sudo. Good luck with your project.
I do like the idea of performing this trick with paintings, pictures, photographs or maybe postcards. I might have a go at producing some artwork. You could even use the principle with a collection of web animations in which items appeared and disappeared in the frame. Possibly the easiest way for anyone to do this would be to present it as a memory game. Take five photos of the same collection of objects in different combinations. Challenge people to look at one of the photos and remember everything on it. Then ask them to simply think of one of the objects... Marty P.S. I've updated the blog post to reflect some of the excellent additional ideas and issues raised in this thread. |

What this entails is actually quite extensive in terms of explanation; Two presentations need to be covered - one for Magicians, and the other, for "pure" Mentalists. It's the latter presentation that is going to take a lot of work. I wish I could explain why that is, but it would be letting the cat out of the bag. It's mainly because that presentation is far more than simply revealing what is being thought-of. Much more. I really can't say too much as I want it to be a surprise when it's finally released. To date, no one has ever gone down the rabbit hole I am exploring with this methodology. That's all I can say. I also have to find a good painter to do all the various paintings - someone who will do this proper justice. That is also going to take some time. That may/may not prove to be difficult, but it will likely be a bit costly which is a problem as someone who is on disability with a fixed limited income. That cost issue is also going to extend to having the paintings then printed and manufactured on suitable-sized cardstock - plus the printing and manufacturing costs for the detailed instruction book that accompanies all this. I'm probably biting off far more than I can chew in trying to get this out on the market, but I think when you see what it entails you'll understand why it definitely needs to be released. The simple answer, again, is that this goes into completely new territory that no one has previously explored with this methodology. |

I picked this up at Blackpool and already have my routine locked in that has several phases, both justifies and even hides the sorting process and gives me a perfect opportunity to look at the crib. It also allows me to cut the memory work in half without reducing the number of items so I can dispense with the crib quicker.

Perhaps for your initial attempt at generating art for the project, you could use DALL-E 2 to get started. Pay an artist to refine the images the AI creates or if you have no moral objection to using AI art versus human-made art, use the AI images if they are good enough.
Even if you don't use the AI art, playing around with it might stimulate other ideas once you see what the AI can produce. Quote: On Feb 21, 2023, Sudo Nimh wrote:

Thank-you for your suggestion Kaliix; it is a good one. Unfortunately, it just won't work for this. The requirements are very, very, specific. When you eventually get to see what this effect entails, you will immediately understand why only a human could create what is needed. Or at least, for now.

It sounds like Weber pumped out some receipt-related material in something I have no access to and frankly don't know anything about (What is Psience? How do I get it?), after having two full weeks to work up some ideas. That hardly seems "hasty," let alone a reason to assume he was "probably already working on it" before all this nonsense started. Is this supposed to be what he was planning to release before EDCeipts came along? |

Correct . Psience. A randomly published e zine, by Weber. After all the hullabaloo, it was sent out. The day Craig’s project came out , or maybe one day later. Craig had, in my opinion done a lot more. Probably , no way to know, the Psience thing was planned , but just percolating , then trailers came out and all the drama above played out.??

Thank-you, Intrepid.
I'm going to refrain from saying more about this release for now simply because I don't want a hype train to start. It will be some time before it's ready to go because I want to make sure this is done properly and according to my exact vision for the project. |
