To give a little more credence to the idea that "newguy" is most likely Weber, consider this posting from newguy in 2016: https://www.conjuringarchive.com/list/bo......ht=34523

Here is a magician who is clearly well educated and well versed about magic, the etymology of various tricks and routines, and the current state of the art. And this is back in 2016. Just before newguy makes this posting, “mastermindreader” introduces the topic of “Michael Weber”. Yet newguy clearly and deliberately misspells the name as Webber. Newguy is doing this “accidentally” again 7! Years! Later! Any other normal, well-versed, magician would have started using the correct spelling of the name. Anyone else. Put yourself in those shoes. If you knew what you were talking about, and were still interested in magic, you would spell this man’s name correctly.

Newguy is clearly not some newby. He’s got a hidden agenda, and most likely the man himself.

Apart from derailing this thread any further from Craig’s magic. I would love to see newguy come back on here and defend himself. He *is* a lawyer, so I'm sure it would be fascinatingly creative. Smile

If you think THAT'S what makes it obvious... wait until you see this:

TRIUMPHOTOCOPY Copyright New Guy 1985 - The Magic Café

and then see who published this 4 years later:
TRIUMPHOTOCOPY by Michael Webber - The Conjuring Archive

This shattered my heart. I’ve been trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. But that post (Triumphotocopy) is irrefutable proof. I’m feeling very disillusioned right now Smile

I subscribed to Real Secrets. Thought the vast majority of effects were disappointing throw-aways at best, but that’s beside the point. Can anyone really sit through a six hour tutorial for anything these days? Impressive if you can. I’m starting to miss the days of written instructions.

Are there coming out versions in other languages?

Right now it's not really usable in any other country then USA and UK in my opinion.

Of course, you don't have to watch all six hours in one sitting. And I'd suggest that given the popularity of Netflix/Hulu/Streamer-of-your-choice binge watching, that many people are quite happy to do exactly that.

I prefer books myself, but don't have any issues with multi-hour videos - as long as the content is decent, of course.

You have nothing to say about the allegations made against you that you are mr. Weber, that is all you are going to say? "You win", as if this was a game of chess for you? Nothing to say to the magic community, nothing to say to your peers about your conduct, about why it seems like your account is one that is used by mr. Weber, and that it seems like Weber used that account to pretend to be someone else, a "fanboy" of Weber to promote his own material?

Doesn't feel like anyone have won here. I fear things might spiral out to levels that no one will gain anything from. Or not. Who knows?
In any case, I have done some rather difficult mediation in the past and might be considered an agreeable mediator by all parts. If I can be useful, email me.

Also, if it is true that newguy is Weber, like all the signs point to, its not that Craig won. Its that Weber lost. Weber himself made himself "lose". Weaved a web and got entangled in it. It does not take a genius to understand that if you are going to pretend to be someone other than yourself online with an alternative account and do things that most would consider to be immoral, such as promote your own stuff while lying about being just a fanboy, you may want to cover your tracks. You might not want to tell people who still have a sense of a moral compass what you are doing, and continue doing it, otherwise those people might out you. And also you might want to try to hide your actions better. Maybe not write about an effect in the alt account and claim it as yours and then four years later claim that same trick under the exact same name under your real name.

All of us have benefitted by outing Weber and Trono. Craig has benefited enormously, as the support for him has been overwhelming. The only people hurt are the ones who deserved to be hurt.

Respectfully, Weber doesn't have to explain his actions. Is an apology in order? Maybe. But that would be to Petty. For all we know, it may come, or continue, in private.

Eagerly waiting to recieve this one!
Your choices in life can be compared to watching a magic trick: You can continue to believe the illusion in front of you, find the intrigue and desire to learn more, or quit paying attention the moment you feel deceived.

Actually he does.
He was posting in a public forum, pumping up his own products and real persona - essentially misleading all members here. The "private" behind the scenes bullying is what led to this whole mess. Now its out in the open for all to see just how devious people in this community are.

Weber is only making it worse for himself by not just admitting to it, apologising to Craig, and just aiming to do better as a member of the magic community.

Of course he does not have to explain his actions, whether he does or does not does not make his actions right either way. But generally owning up to ones mistakes is a good thing to do in my opinion. But that means one has to be genuinely sorry and see their actions as wrong. Even a narcissist can occasionally say sorry as a tactic to keep their games up, and this kind of an apology is merely about trying to get away with your actions the best you can with no change of heart or mind. Similarly as Weber does not have to explain his actions, people don't have to not ask him to explain his actions.

‘You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain…" Christopher Nolan - Dark Knight 2008

(I however did put this quote out in a secret screenwriters group consisting of me and 2 invisible friends in 2001 - I'll get IMDB to conveniently update their records to prove my point)

Its good people die sooner than later, otherwise we would have some very p1ssed off caveman complaining that people are using his "making scratches on any surface" technology to communicate information via writing.

I'm relieved that we can finally start publicly acknowledging that Michael Weber is NOT an amazing genius, that most of his original effects are disappointing for the price, and that a ton of his output consists only of updates or rehashes of existing plots, which he apparently then claims to own.

He's a despicable conman who, for TWO DECADES, has been fraudulently shilling his products here (and most likely in other forums) by pretending to be one of his own customers/fans, and teamed up with an apparent psychopath (Trono) to help bully anyone who crossed him, which has obviously worked like a charm many, many times.

Since Weber is an attorney for exactly this type of thing, he's likely confident that he has no legal culpability since any complainant would probably have to prove damages.

But what a fraud, and a scumbag, and a gangster, and an indecent person he is. He doesn't support magic--he degrades it, and has been doing so for years.

I've made purchases in the past based in part on newguy's input, like many others, and I'm pretty angry and frustrated.

This thread should stay up permanently, but it probably won't, so I sincerely hope that some tech-savvy folks are archiving this. It is important.

At any rate, I fully support Craig Petty and my order for two copies of EDCeipt is in! Can't wait!!

I find it funny how the reviewer is anonymous and then “Deceptionguy” responds back and says they have their own opinion. Yet no one has even received it to know what it is fully about!

Pure laughter!!!!
