Thanks for the prompt reply and I was suprised it turned up today to be fair - No not tried on real people yet but just felt compared to the thermal paper used on Paul fowlers transaction I could feel the micro dimples you get in tyvek wheras thermal paper is smooth and slippery as real receipts are. I also am working my way through the tutorials so may have missed a few things and as you said the full 6 or so hours mat have not been uploaded to the murphys wite yet so will see on Monday, I totally understand the system having been in magic for 40+ years but new people may not was just bringing up what I found what I have here to view today - So apologies if things are still missing as I am 2 days early.

Ugh. It drives me insane when creators says "people won't notice" vs "people don't seem to care". Unless, of course, you reveal that they are fake afterwards and ask if they noticed.

I know who creators are selling to, but often they forget who their customers are selling to.

Don’t know what to say to you you seem to have you mind made up. I made the decision to go with tyvek based on testing it extensively. I’m answering a concern from a member of the Café and based on my experience it’s a total non issue. I have just finished a gig and performed this about ten times. Nobody notices anything. I’m not too sure how to answer the question in a way that would make you happy with my answer

I am not knocking your product. I ordered, and am excited to use it. I was only commenting on claiming people won't notice. That's a pretty bold statement, and as someone in adverting, the verbiage is what I'm nitpicking at... not you.

For those who have thermal printers, there are sites where you can print out your own receipts.

You can say whatever delivery service is in your area. I'm going to try UPS or FedEx too and see what the reaction is although it may take a while if people don't bring up the point.

I will be making it up with thermal paper as I have rolls of the stuff in my magic things I may use from years back, I bought it when a certain product relating to kettles released way way back another great mentalism effect was that. My partner clocked them straight away as she does loads of shopping - women hey lol. The routine is bullet proof and worth far more than the asking price the 2 hour Yes 2 hour chat between Pete Turner and Craig is worth double the asking price of this and I hate it when Pete gives away too many of his ideas and thoughts and I am proud to call Pete a friend whom I went on a mad camping weekend with a few years back with Fraser Parker and Mark Chandaue - We need to do that again but I digress - for the £22 they are asking it could be sold for 3 times the price and still be worth every single Penny.

I've known newguy was a collective acct since at least 2007 (and have the emails to prove it). Never posted as newguy but have had offers made, ala, "That's a good way of putting that, you should post that. Or if you want, "newguy" can do it." Don't recall if I ever took newguy up on the offer, but it's very possible. So Eric's admission that it was at times a collective voice is confirmed.

The intentional misspelling "Webber" was a persistent inside joke amongst those of us that knew. It came from the many times his name was accidentally misspelled that way here on the Café (and other places). A similar inside joke exists due to people mispronouncing his name as "Weeber" if they've never heard it, only read it.

Regardless- much ado about nothing IMO.

With all due respect, if we're comparing any of the "newguys" here to a true artistic genius like Duchamp then I think we need a little perspective on our own contribution to the cultural landscape.

Have you ever paid $100 for a magic trick, and then it turns out to be a piece of garbage? Or maybe you’ve paid $200 for a booklet, or $300 for special access to a special session to a magic convention…and all the ideas are unusable? Or maybe you’ve bought ideas like this hoping to perform them on social media or local TV, and then, after purchase, you see that there’s some fine print restricting you from these performances? Have you ever wondered how and why this happens so much?

In the past I got kicked out magic groups for talking about the “Secret Magic Police.” That’s what I always called it. Others say “Magic Mafia.” It’s a group of magicians who make their money selling tricks to other magicians; they don’t make their money entertaining people. In fact, they COULDN’T CARE LESS about entertaining people.

Here’s how their crediting system works:
1) If you bow down to them, then they like you. If you don’t, then they don’t like you.
2) When you come up with a new idea, inevitably, it will have elements of old ideas mixed in with new ideas. If the Magic Police like you, they’ll focus on the new elements of your release and talk about how original it is and how people should buy it. If they don’t like you, they’ll only focus on the parts that have been done before and they’ll call you a thief and try to destroy your professional reputation and ability to make money in the marketplace.

That is the current magic crediting system.

When the Magic Elites/Secret Magic Police bully enough people out of the marketplace, they create a vacuum that can be filled with their ****ty tricks that entertain nobody. (That's where your thousands of dollars have gone.)

“newguy” has discouraged people on this thread from buying my tricks multiple times in the past. And I was fooled! I thought it was just some ‘random guy’ who didn’t like me; never did I imagine it was the sock puppet account of the Secret Magic Police.

In my case…the Secret Magic Police won. I stepped away from releasing magic because it was just too hard on me, emotionally. (When my fiancee’s cancer returned, I started being more open about the depression and anxiety. And while I still suffer, I’ve found relief from stepping back from this community.)

I do know what most people on this forum think about me. Because you’ve heard the Magic Elite’s opinion on me for a decade now, and that’s fine. I just wanted to chime in and say….this discussion could be the most encouraging thing in the magic marketplace in a decade. It’s great to hear all these brave magicians stepping up, drawing lines, and refusing to stand for market manipulation. Also it’s great to hear the people doing the manipulating admitting to it! (And I LOVED reading Eric’s hilarious bit about how this decades-long sock-puppet bullying was for our own good...lol...this did give me the smile I needed today.)

Full disclosure: I’m a bit biased in this situation…AGAINST Craig Petty. Just two weeks ago he did a podcast called RICK LAX IS A SELLOUT, and then when I left him personal messages detailing how he hurt my feelings, he did his NEXT podcast about me, titled RICK LAX IS ****ED OFF, where he and Lloyd barnes made fun of my personal messages detailing how and why their hurt my feelings…and also laughed nonstop because I suggested the biggest moral issue in magic isn’t what I do with a Tenyo release, but instead the sexual assault of children. (Somebody will have listen to Lloyd and Chris laugh about this and then give me a better explanation of why it’s so funny….I’m struggling to understand.)

But the point is…despite being biased against Craig…he’s very much RIGHT about the Magic Mafia, and my heart goes out to him and anyone else who has been bullied.

It’s like the Secret Magic Police decided that what they do is so important…it justifies ruining lives. I do believe Petty when he says he was in a dark place with depression and thoughts of doing dark thing, and I do believe the mafia hears that and thinks, “We’ve got the perfect threat!” And--to the Magic Police’s credit, I DO believe that they (Weber, Eric, Jason, whoever else) genuinely believe they’re doing a good thing. That they’re vigilantes for crediting justice. And they feel like it’s so important, ANYTHING is on the table to stop it. Sock-puppet accounts, deception, ruining lives.

Anyway, congrats to all the brave people standing up here.

P.S., I stopped posting here years ago for the reasons described above and some other things, but now that I spend ¼ of the time in magic that I used to, it’s a bit easier for me.
P.P.S., I reached out to Craig and Michael because I really do believe this could be a transformative time for all of us. The industry is bigger than us all, and if we can resolve differences and put the focus back on entertaining people...that's worth some uncomfortable conversations.

I guess when an art form spawns an industry, the w*nkers eventually win.

Btw I (perhaps naively) assumed Weber's unethical behaviour extended to using a pseudonym to promote his own products and stifle criticism.

If he has systematically undermined the sales of another creator using the same method, the (new)guy can only be described as scum.

How is this any better? Who else was involved? It's time for total transparency.


This is remarkable timing, owing to the fact that the incident with Bob's New Wave Prediction and Craig's RED was a precursor to all of this. Maybe this is Bob's way of telling us that there are much more important things to worry about in life than who is who or who said what.

Thanks Iforindia123 You must be new here....people on this forum are supposed to hate me and talk about NOT buying my tricks. I've actually been spending my time away from magic...the only new release I've done in a few years was just a free project with Flom (that the Magic Mafia did not like at all!) But I know Craig always has new releases coming out. Lately been finding more joy in just doing magic for friends.

I'm late to your work Rick, but like what I see! Let me know if you decide to come back.
