I released New Wave Prediction by Bob King and called it RED. In the past before the release it happened to be one of my favourite tricks. I have no idea why that happened or what I was thinking. I've thought about it a hundreds times. I could make excuses and say that I'd forgotten the trick but the bottom line is I knew about it and I stole it.[sic] This is the first time I've heard Craig unequivocally admit that he stole "New Wave Prediction" by Bob King rather than suggest he accidentally reinvented a trick that he once performed and had subsequently forgotten. Well done, Craig. It takes a lot of bravery to admit when you've done something wrong like this. Being an eternal optimist, I can still see a future in which Craig can resolve this issue directly with Michael Weber and Tim Trono, something that, I think, would have avoided a lot of this drama, no matter how entertaining it may be (and let's be honest, most of us here do enjoy a certain amount of controversy). In addition, I'm sure the project would be strengthened if Michael and Tim agreed to contribute to the tutorials. I own the original "Age Receipts" as a charter member of Real Secrets; I enjoyed many of the tricks mailed to me, including this one. It was a fun club while it lasted. "Age Receipts" is a neat trick and deserves to be credited in this new release (now that Craig is aware of its existence). I also don't have a problem with the way the receipts look. They're not as well designed as the ones included in this new release, but, for that reason, they look like the sort of thing that you'd get from a local independent shop. But having looked at what is included in EDCeipt, I really don't understand why these two tricks can't co-exist. Marty For those unaware of the restrictions put on members, these were the original terms and conditions that I received via email when I subscribed to Real Secrets: 1) Never throw away anything you get from us - you never know what it might be and you will discover secrets as you go along through your membership. 2) We'd ask that you honor our request not to do or post videos or descriptions of the tricks online. We want to protect your secrets and your investment. You can obviously perform these professionally or just for fun for friends, family, coworkers, and others. We want you to have material that not everyone has or knows about. Your investment in Real Secrets is important to us. 3) Feel free to let others know about Real Secrets. If you are happy with the magic please let others know in a general sense. If you hate Real Secrets let us know and we will resolve that. 4) If you ever have problems contact us. We want you to be happy and so it is vital that we know of any problems so that we can make every attempt to fix them. Your investment in the community is important to us. 5) If you have ideas, suggestions, or new handlings we'd love to hear about them and will set up a dedicated e-mail for that. Once we have reviewed the ideas we will share them with our community if appropriate and with your permission. 6) Do not give out your membership number and retain it. We will eventually have a retail outlet of very select products not available elsewhere and you will only have access to our Real Secrets store using your membership number. We understand the concern by some of not knowing exactly who Real Secrets is made up of. We can tell you that it is people you know and trust. People like Steve Brooks, Michael Weber, Bob Neale, Mathieu Bich, Gaetan Bloom, Tim Trono, Paul Wilson, Christian Engblom and others have endorsed, recommended, contributed to, or participated in Real Secrets. Obviously these individuals would not be involved in any manner if there were concerns of trust. When you start getting the material and seeing how great Real Secrets is you will see why Michael Weber strongly recommended and endorsed Real Secrets to thousands of attendees during both of his lectures at the 2012 Blackpool Magic Convention and several subsequent lectures throughout the UK. Michael has several unpublished ideas and routines in Real Secrets. We look forward to an exciting journey together with some wonderful, exciting, different, and practical magic you will receive in your mailbox every month. Thank you once again for joining our community. |

Only mention that was ever out there was Matrix Recipts which was published and details a different method. Age secrets was never published except to a select group of people that couldn’t disclose it. It is possible for two people to have the same idea with similar method and no need to credit either product. Im still waiting for Weber to show what they have for Their so called public release of the product. Any creator with a trick that was sent out to only the Real Secrets group, perhaps this is a wake up call and you should publish your tricks now or forever hold your peace. Also, since this is a Trade Secret, Craig is only at fault if he knew of the existence of real secrets age receipt prior to development; which he didn’t. And no claim of such was ever made to that by anyone involved. So I say no credit is needed. |

Unless you were a member, there wasn't an easy way of finding out what tricks were included in the club. However, now that the trick is essentially public knowledge, he should amend the credits for EDCeipt. This is standard practice for any publisher of magic. The nature of the initial publication is irrelevant. Even if a single copy of a trick is published, then it should be credited. If we start making random exceptions, it opens the doors for other publishers of magic to engage in poor crediting practices. Marty |

It's time to focus on what's been released and I have the following thoughts by way of a brief review of EDCeipts:
The amount of ideas and alternative routines provided in many hours of videos is phenomenal. I have only watched the main tutorial and the Pete Turner additional video so far but these two videos alone make this a superb instructional download, in addition to the provided receipts etc. I have a couple of thoughts about the included receipts which are not huge issues but, for me, would make this an even better product. First, all the receipts are of an identical length. It would, in my opinion, be better to have incorporated some additional spacing in some receipts to make them of different lengths. It's a minor thing but it would make the receipts just that bit more realistic. Which leads to my second point. The receipts, as noted in the advertising and elsewhere, are made of Tyvek. I showed this effect to my grown-up adult daughter (in her 30s) and she said "these don't feel like real receipts". I have never used Tyvek before so to my knowledge she's never encountered this material. She loved the effect and was suitably baffled, but it took the edge off the reaction that she thought something was amiss. Then again, she's suspicious of anything I try on her! I would welcome the option of purchasing a normal non-Tyvek till receipt version. Could this be made available, Craig? I'm aware of the discussions around Tyvek but I would have more confidence if the above changes were made or additional non-Tyvek receipts could be made available for purchase. I don't want this to come across as a serious criticism. EDCeipts is a brilliant project and the tuition/ideas videos are superb. The cost of this effect is modest and I think excellent value. Even with a small amount of time spent with this effect, I look forward to carrying this around with me. It's super-easy to learn and there are so many different ideas to explore. Well done, Craig. To be honest I have never had a problem with Tyvek however if this is an issue for you I would suggest the following link which is the best site I have found for making fake receipts https://makereceipt.com/ You can make loads of different types and styles of receipts and making them takes seconds. There are also loads of templates included. Also don’t forget the files are included in the project so you can use these to create other receipts and print them on paper or thermal paper. Thermal printers are very cheap. Finally Pete talks about how you can make these using local shops on the fly. Hope that helps and thanks again |

Just one more question: where are the receipt files included in the project? I can see all the video files for download but no other files. Or have I misunderstood or missed something here? Thanks CoinBoy101 |

Thank You, Craig! You can also buy receipt paper and use adhesive stick to hold it against standard copy paper to run through your printer and print your own. Here is another receipt design site- http://www.fakereceipt.us/sales_receipt.php

Using receipts of a different length might be a small factor in revealing the method to some people or create suspicion. Although in another sense it could be an added benefit and used as an advantage by not having to view the receipts again after your audience has chosen an item. I look forward to experimenting with this.

I think it's important to emphasise to those who are still considering purchasing EDCeipt, I have raised very minor questions which do not affect the overall baffling nature of the trick. Nor the superb videos which provide many different ideas and ways of carrying out EDCeipt. I tried this effect, as I often do, on a family member. My daughter is always looking to see if she can work out how a trick is done and is tuned into noticing minor details. I've yet to try this in the real world and I'm happy to do so. The addition of being able to make one's own receipts, as Craig has pointed out, dispels any concerns over Tyvek. I will try both kinds of receipts to see if it actually makes a difference. I suspect I'm over-thinking this, which is what magicians can do! LOL CoinBoy101 |

I just use roughing stick, Elmer's repositional stick, etc.
I also use a laser printer so there is no rub off. -Hope this helps!

Just been watching the videos and playing around with the props. I think that once the Tyvek versions have been folded and crumpled a bit they will pass muster.
My only thought is if I'm presenting it as "lists of grocery items I have purchased" they should probably all be from the same shop/store. So I think I some point I will make up a set all from my local supermarket. Made it through 3hrs so far and really enjoying the ideas. |
