I recently bought a pack of plastic cards. One disadvantage of them that I can think of is that I can't crimp them. An advantage is I find faro shuffles much easier with them (did 6 consecutive perfect faros, which is something I could never do with paper cards).

Are there any other advantages/disadvantages to using plastic cards in magic?

Great advantage on not buying Bikes weekly. Save a fortune. Big disadvantage in not being able to perform several types of tricks, for example Torn & Restored, Card Warp & also a lot less availability of speciality cards. Lol RobertApodaca.

As long as the cards are smooth with no finish, they are great for rough and smooth. I have an ID I made over 20 years ago that still works flawlessly. They resist humidity, too.

I like your idea, Alan. I want to look into that. Thanks.

Very interesting, do you have a brand you'd recommend?

I tried to faro a deck of "Bicycle Prestige" plastic cards, and they were awful. So folks might want to avoid these if they like to faro.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

The cards I used I think were Royal brand bridge-size cards - inexpensive cards that come in two packs.
