I had heard that Magick Balay recently opened a brick and mortar Magic Shop in New York City and thought I would stop by while visiting the city.
Today was that day. The shop is nicely laid out and has a great selection of effects, books and collectible card decks on display.
The owner is extremely personable and a top notch demonstrator since a lot of what he sells is in his working repertoire.
The shop is on 37th Street on the West Side of Manhattan. There were several people visiting the shop while I was there and I predict that Magick will do very well. I wish him all the best!

I haven't run into him for about two decades now, but he is a VERY cool dude. Like Peter, I also wish him all the best. I also wish him luck, as B&M magic shops are a real gamble these days. Luck definitely comes into play. With his energy when going into demos, I doubt that many people leave without buying SOMETHING. A Sven deck or SOMETHING. Definitely SOMETHING. Knock 'em dead, Magick!

That's so great to hear. I met Magick once a long time ago, and he did seem to exude a natural charm that was hard to deny. I can't imagine going to NYC and not having at least one magic shop to visit. I think they have three now with Tannens, Don't Blink, and Brooklyn Magic Shop near by. Abracadabra is a costume-type shop with a magic area, so that would be good for an emergency magic fix in a pinch.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.
