I seem to remember it is also called a bootheel purse. I have occasionally seen them at Busch Gardens. Try a local leathercrafter. I'm sure they could make one.

Try They carry a lot of European stuff and I know that I've seen the purses in one of their catalogs.

Alan's on target - - - they are the Ton Onosaka purses, I believe they come in at least two different sizes.

A freind of mine has a source for some really good quality purses. He has made them available through If you do not see them on the website then call and ask Chris about the bags that Tim Kreiner provides. Or E mail Tim @ Hope this helps Smile

I'm a hardcore magician so...

I start by going to exclusive Leather Shops.
I need them to be exactly right and with
an exact thickness of Bison Leather.

then off to the tanning shop and
I use only vegetable dyes.

then i take them to a special blacksmith
to do the clasp because leather guys can't do a clasp very well.

just kidding!

sorry, i couldn't help myself. Hand Crafted Magic

Actually, the pouch kakronnen is referring to doesn't have a clasp--it folds closed over itself and has a "tray" area on one side and a divided pouch on the other--looks kinda like a figure 8 when opened. Typically, you can find these in kits at do-it-yourself leather stores (like Tandy Leather, etc) where they sell kits to make mocassins, wallets, belts, etc.

I got one of mine there. I also got one at a discount leather store in a factory outlet mall. if you can't find one, let me know--I'll see if I can round up another one for you.

They are also used quite a bit in Scotland where the men wear "The Kilt" so have no pockets to use.

We have a small leather container on the end of two chains that sits in front of the lower body and is called a "Sporran".
Space is at a premium in the Sporran and the small coin purses are ideal as they slide in nice and flat.
