Perhaps I haven't seen as many live shows as yourselves? It is very hard to get standing ovations in any performance art.
My only personal experiences have been; Rick Thomas Phelston Jones Mac King Lance-B Angel Salazar (comedian) Rare and fun moments for both myself and the performers. Would you please share your list and perhaps some reasons as to why they were able to connect with the audiences and then recieve a "Standing-O" |

Rey-Rey,
I find that standing ovations are unfortunately all too common nowadays. It sometimes seems as if audiences feel that a standing-O is a way to applaud themselves for having been part of the evening's entertainment. In fact, I get nasty looks when I stay in my seat, clapping politely, while everyone around me is on their feet saluting a competent, but unexceptional, performance. Of course, this just cheapens what should be an extraordinary gesture of appreciation by the audience. It heartens me to hear that you have had a different experience. |

When I saw Copperfield live (10 times I might add), he got no less than 4 standing ovations every show!
But that's why he's Copperfield I guess! Boy, he connected so well, some were crying at the end of "Portal"!

I once saw a magician who got a standing ovation. He setup a little senario about when he gets back home from the tour (and this was his last show of the tour). He said about his family all asking if he had a good tour etc. and he said yes, on the last day I even got a standing ovation.
Sorry if this post is a little confused. |

At the Magic Live convention over the last few days, I have seen at least 4 or 5 magicians get standing ovations.

I saw Johnny Thompson get a standing ovation and five curtain calls at one of Stan Kramiens conventions in Portland OR a few years ago.
This was on MT. Kramine in a barn like structure in March. It was very cold and his act was wonderful under hard and primitive performing condisions. I also saw Jay Marshall get a standing ovation here in St. Louis a week before I performed at the magic castle... At an SAM convention... That was quite a thing to.
