Well, I just clicked on the Chamber of Wallets site, (nice variety) so it's working great already. (LOL)

But seriously, it depends on what you promoting. Getting your name to the right people is the key.
Social media works for some in regard to meeting the right people.

If it's a show you promoting, get in front of the right buyers.
And just in case you are promoting some type of magic product,
put a link in your signature. There is no better
place to meet other magicians than right here.

Good luck with it,

Tom

Are you trying to promote your wallet site, or a different website?

Thank you for the replies. Yes I'm trying to promote my wallet site. I'm just going through putting in the ALT Text for every image so it's better for search engines. I have a page on Twitter but I'm not sure that will help much so looking for ideas and help. I left Facebook years ago so wasn't really keen on using that again. Magicweek mentioned it and I have posted on other forums. I have also contacted podcasts and The Hermit.

UK, notice how Tom has web links in his signature on his posts? You can add that to your posts also, a link to your wallet web site. Then, any posts you contribute here will share it. As far as other areas of the web, others will be more helpful.

Yes as Wravyn said,

You won’t be breaking the rules if you put a description and a link in your signature here. That way you don’t have to spam the board, or hope they just click on your profile to see the link. They will see it every time you post if it is in your signature.

You won't get in trouble if you will remember the rules are that you should only talk about your own product when someone else asks first about it.

If you need help with adding a link, ask the staff, or let me know and I can help.

A banner ad here would probably help more than anything.

His goal should be to pull in all levels of magicians, It’s the hobbyists
and beginners that buy the bulk of magic props.

Remember a signature line is meant to be a short sentence or two, not a full blown advertisement.

What would likely be more effective would be to purchase a banner ad here in the Café to have placed in the two or three mentalism forums. This can be cost effective and allow you to post more freely about your website and products.

A banner ad is a monthly expense. If you're looking to just advertise your free web site, then it won't be profitable but it's up to you. A banner ad also does not give you Carte Blanche to continually post about your web site. That would be the purpose of the banner.

All said and done, a short signature line statement would be the best way to go for what you are offering.

If your website doesn't sale anything, why do you want to promote it? It certainly looks like a useful resource for those looking
for wallets, a person who is looking for this info would have to find you, not you bringing it to them.

The Conjuring archive has little marketing that I've seen, It's still well known, I believe your best bet would be to inform the
people who people ask for info, and tell them about it, this would insure anyone who seeks the info
will find it.

I'll keep your resource in mind for anyone who asks about wallets, I found your website interesting.

There seems to be differing opinions about what exactly a short sentence or two is.

Danny, you're correct but here is an except of the rules for signatures:

Quote:
Please know that while we do not have a problem with members posting small signatures (partial poems, quotes, homepage links, etc) we Do Not allow blatant Advertisements to be included in your signature (e.g, "Come check out my website" or "Join our message board" or "Watch for my new product" etc).
In addition, signatures which contain banners or ad copy advertising a product, service, event, message board, chat room or commercial website will be removed as well.

I do not dispute the rule. I dispute the obvious different interpretations of the time lol. Clearly many use it as more than intended.

Here are some suggestions to promote your website:

1. Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Optimize your website's content, meta tags, and structure to improve its visibility on search engines like Google. Focus on relevant keywords and ensure your website is easily crawlable by search engine bots.

2. Content Marketing: Create high-quality, valuable content related to your niche. Publish articles, blog posts, or videos that provide useful information and engage your target audience. Share your content on social media platforms and consider guest posting on other reputable websites to expand your reach.

3. Social Media Marketing: Establish a strong presence on popular social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or LinkedIn. Share engaging content, interact with your audience, and leverage relevant hashtags to increase your visibility. Consider running targeted advertising campaigns on these platforms to reach a wider audience.

4. Email Marketing: Build an email list of interested users and regularly send them newsletters or updates about your website. Offer incentives, such as exclusive content or discounts, to encourage sign-ups. Ensure your emails are personalized, relevant, and provide value to your subscribers.

5. Influencer Marketing: Collaborate with influencers or industry experts who have a substantial following in your niche. They can promote your website through their channels, creating brand awareness and driving traffic to your site. Choose influencers whose audience aligns with your target demographic.

6. Online Advertising: Consider running paid advertising campaigns, such as Google Ads or social media ads, to increase your website's visibility. Set clear goals, target specific keywords or demographics, and monitor your campaigns regularly to optimize their performance.

7. Networking and Partnerships: Attend relevant industry events, conferences, or webinars to connect with like-minded individuals and potential partners. Collaborate on joint projects, cross-promote each other's websites, or guest post on each other's blogs to expand your reach.

Remember, promoting a website takes time and effort. Consistency, quality content, and engaging with your audience are key factors in driving traffic and increasing your site's visibility.

Hey thanks for an awesome list and taking the time to post it. Im currently working on alt text at the moment and then I will submit my site map to google. I will certainly try the things youve mentioned. It was mentioned in the latest issue of Hermit and also on Magicweek.
Im getting over 2000 visitors to the site a month at the moment.

I'm going to guess that if you're getting 2000 visitors a month to your site you're doing pretty good. The next thing is to figure out if those visitors actually spend much time on your site. Are many of them repeat visitors etc.
I used to look at this all the time, but don't bother now. But, I must admit I'm pretty lazy in that department.

I don't think my web hoster (ionos) offer the ability to know if they are repeat visitors unfortunately. It would be good to know.

I still say you need a link in your signature, because that’s about the best way you can promote your product on here for free without a problem. Trying to work around the rules and constantly talking about your own product is only asking for trouble. Not only is that bad marketing, but it’s also a fact that you can’t force people to buy from you. It’s a big turn-off for many when you do try.

Again, I say, put a link in your signature so THOSE THAT ARE INTERESTED can visit your site without you begging them to view it. Then keep your mouth shut about it. Have all the information they need on your own site.

Hope that helps,

Tom
