Magic Grandpa Here:
Sometimes, I have a hard time communicating my true feelings. And I make typo errors too. Here is my take on the tapes/DVD. I think all the audience members are terrific, and add a festive atmosphere to the tapings/shootings. I feel there is love toward the performers and each other. Good feelings abound. David is the best. His reactions are priceless and sincere. And his enthusiasm makes the performers want to excell all that much more. I'm sorry if I failed to communicate that earlier.
I'm old as dirt; that's why there's no picture of me.

I just assumed that they all worked for L&L. John has to be stoned. David is my personal favorite. And is Kevin the guy with the really bad fingernails? The women are almost always really cute but for some reason the camera spends more time on the guys.
Also, ever notice that they only show the right side of the room? In one of the videos the performer made a comment that led me to believe that the left side of the room is reserved for magicians. Craig

After you own 50+ L&L DVD's you might want to see someone/something different.
Just an opinion.

It is Jay Sankey that looked at the left side and made a star trek/magi reference.

I actually mentioned this in a review I did for the first volume of Jay's (Very Best) tapes. Now correct me if I'm wrong, I think it was Regal or someone who says that Falanga, has (or might have invited "dancers") for a few of the female audience members. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I thought I read Regal saying that when he did his guest spot here. Getrting uglier...come on. Not to be off subject. I think that group is funny. I agree John is a little over the top though. Like at the beginning of Jay's trick stirring silver Jay let the spoon fall, and John started clapping and laughing, and Jay asked if he was retarded, which I DIDN'T agree with, and I mentioned that in the taped, as I have 2 aunts with Mental Retardation. That aside, they are funnt people and I like seeing them. Your Truly, Ed, (Eddini).

I like the fact that L&L uses a live audience. True, their reactins are not toally genuine, but if somethign really sucks you will know it, and there is a real favorite among the lot, you can usually tell.

Do you really think after sitting in all of these tapes these people don't have a clue what is going on? Yeah, I already thought on this...For me they absloutly know what is going on!!! And they are paid to perform! This is the worst part of L&L Pub. videos for me.

By paid you are referring to the fact that they get a free breakfast and lunch right?

I have several great DVDs from L & L. Yes, the audiences are mostly the same. And Yes, Cassandra is nice looking.
To me , ( especially in Bill Malone series ) the reactions are over exagerated a litte bit I like John, may be I am a wierdo too I mean, may be that's the reactian I am going to get if my performance is perfect. |

IMHO:
I would MUCH rather have an audience, than just go with the MM approach with just one person there to pick cards lol. Again, just my 0.02. Alym

Anyone seen the Jerry Griffin 'Complete Card Magic' series? He has two very attractive ladies watching him, whose repeated responses of 'Oh, my God' are completely flat and unconvincing. It put me off the effects.
At least the L&L crowd are enthusiastic! If John and his mullett have been taking notes, maybe we can expect a L&L series of DVDs from him soon.

If we're talking about attractive ladies on magic vids, the lady in the explanation sections of Gregory Wilson's "On The Spot" gets my vote!
I've noticed that Greg seems to prefer performing to attractive ladies on the streets too....who can blame him? |

The reason, of course, for the same audience each time is that they instill and of real joy and participation into the element of magic presentation. It's the same technique most advertisers use too. You never see and ad for cigarettes showing drunk people gambling with dice in a dark alley with hookers standing around; it's always people playing volleyball or sitting on the end of a dock by an idyllic lake laughing with each other. The ancient technique of "association" is what's at work here and, according to research, it works like a charm. Personally, I really do wish that just once Louis Falanga would just walk down the street and randomly ask people if they would like to watch a magic show while they are being filmed for free. It would be interesting to see what happens. That's my 2 cents worth.
