Hi folks,
I haven't been able to find such envelopes, after lots of searching on amazon and elsewhere. Any leads? Thanks for any help you can offer, Bob |

Bob, I found what they are calling a #7 coin envelope. You might be able to find these at a local office supply store. On Amazon, most of the ones I found require you to purchase a bunch of them. These are 3-1/2" x 6 1/2" and are manila color. Other colors are out there.

The coin or pay envelopes they commonly sold in stores that I bought years ago are too slim for poker size packets of cards. I see some 3" x 4.5" options online. If it's just for storage, I recently picked up some transparent, durable plastic baggies in bulk that work great for that purpose. They have the added benefit of not having to label or look inside to see the contents.
below are the manila 3" x 4.5" I saw: https://www.amazon.com/Guardian-Coin-Env......&sr=8-16 |

I think the key to Bob's quest is he wants envelopes that open on the short end. Both of the above suggestions open normally.

Bob, didn't search a lot but these are the closest I found to poker sized cards, unfortunately they open on the long end but perhaps you could make them work. The size is # 17.

Hello Bob (and ThomasJ),
I've been using the ones that ThomasJ indicated, for some thirty years now. They're perfect for holding packets of poker sized cards. As he mentioned, the size is 3" by 4-1/2", and are end-opening as you requested. Mine are made by a different company (Columbia), but are otherwise identical to what ThomasJ described. I probably got them at Office Max in those pre-Amazon days. I still use them regularly for various things, magical and household. Thomas Henry |

I would never describe an envelope as having a "short" end, but if someone asked me for one that was 3" on the short end, I'd understand what they meant. Communication is a tricky thing. Words mean things and sometimes they mean different things to different people. I'm sure Bob will clarify.

Thanks, everybody! Very helpful. The envelopes that ThomasJ suggested and Thomas Henry likes are close to what I need and should work. I'd seen them before but thought they'd be too big, but, Thomas H., you give me confidence that they'll be fine.
They do open at the "short" end in my linguistic world. It's funny, Ray, if you said the "narrow" end, I'd be mystified! Conveying what we mean in words ain't easy, as you said. Bob |

Howdy Bob, hope you're doing well! The extra space won't be a problem, especially if you plan to have multiple cards in the envelope. You will avoid warping the cards or damaging their edges by having some extra room in there.

Hi there, Thomas. I'm doing well, thanks. Hope you are too. Good to know about the extra space. Part of the reason I want such envelopes is to avoid damaging them.

Just a quick followup: I ordered the envelopes that ThomasJ and Thomas Henry liked, and I like them too. Big enough to hold lots of cards, small enough to be convenient.

U-Line also carries them in a variety of sizes. Here's the 3 x 4.5 inch one in white, but they have lots of different ones
https://www.uline.com/Product/Detail/S-1......-x-4-1-2 The main page for them is https://www.uline.com/BL_1580/Coin-Envel......nvelopes The brand I have had forever (500 is a lot) is Columbian, and those are sturdy and seem to endure. They make excellent envelopes for mentalism things as well. Just another $.02 |

Not what Bob was asking about, but these might be of interest to some. I can see some avenues for effects with the features of the box too.
