Been busy making a plethora of documents around Harry Price's life. A picture of Harry surrounded by his equipment, the spirit photography of William Hope that Harry exposed as a sham, a photo of the goat ready at the Brocken experiment, photos of Borley Rectory before and after the fire, some of the spirit writing, a photo of the Rev. Bull who built the Rectory, and a photo of Helen Duncan's ectoplasm. A burnt page from the pamphlet Harry put out exposing spiritualism. The spiritualist were so annoyed they bought them all and burnt them. Then newspaper clippings of the Brocken experiment.
The photos are all backed on thick card so they can be held up and displayed to an audience without flopping back as well as making them durable. Also got a vintage fold out camera to start off your collection of ghost hunting equipment. There are so many endless possibilities of routines that you can hang around these documents. They give you the stage dressing for routines on automatic writing, slates, spirit photography, psychic experiments, Goetic themes, any haunted effect. Just making these sets I thought of more routines that would go with them than you could fit into a evening of magic. I'm rather tempted to have a go at making Prof BC most haunted house book test to go with my own set. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

The variety of things he investigated makes such a hook to attach our routines to.
The sky documentary is on YouTube with Tom Baker presenting. Derren Brown and Richard Wiseman add commentaries. https://youtu.be/P7aUGHM9J54?feature=shared |

Just discovered there is a Gef the talking mongoose movie out! Not sure why this hasn't had as much attention as the Barbie movie.

An impressive cast considering what a ridiculous concept it it. Though with Neil Gaiman as Gef I'm sold on it.

For those of you who don't know the Gef case Harry Price, the ghost hunter, went to the Isle of Man to investigate the reports of the Irvings. They were disturbed by a creature in the wall, that eventually revealed itself to be a talking mongoose. It was eventually, unsurprisingly, settled that it was a hoax.
This ties into perfectly to what I've been working on around Harry Price the last few months. The work around Borley Rectory, spirit photography, the ectoplasm bottles and automatic writing. I like a naff sideshow gaff and the case of Gef is so ridiculous I felt it needed a prop just as daft. I settled on a plaster cast of one of his footprints. You can see in the photos the plaster casts the family offered up as evidence for Gef's existence and you can see they are just as credible as mine and probably made by someone who has never seen a mongoose. They certainly didn't have access to knowledge of how many toes they have with the various casts changing each time. Alongside the box cast I've got the house and family photos, plus some newspaper clippings of the case. ![]() You can see the photo showing the casts made during the investigation here. ![]() Newspaper clippings explaining the case. ![]() Borley including the haunting writing. ![]() Ectoplasm bottle and case Harry debunked. ![]() |

Fully embracing the daftness of the Gef story with a PK hair sample gaff.

I've been reading the Sean O' Connor book on Borley and it's such a rich history that I could be making effects for this going far beyond the time anyone would have the patience to let me perform. Enjoying tinkering with this in-between projects for other people.
