I would really like to have a silver dollar set, but it's just very expensive.
What do you think of the Bluether Magic Coin Set 2.0 ? Supposedly silver plated, so it should handle almost like an original set.
It looks pretty good on the photos, but almost only detailed coins are shown. I would like to have the soft set. Maybe I'm just too stupid to find the right thread.
Does anyone here have experience with it? How well does the ] fit? How does the patina appear? How do the coins sound? Is somebody selling this in Europe? I only found Dynamite Magic (out of stock).

Those are copper, not silver plated.

To be sure, their website describes it as “white copper plated with silver.”

Bluether sets are well made. I've got the soft 2.0 set - not the silver plated version.
The white copper yellows some as it tarnishes but cleans up easily.
It's a good inexpensive alternative to real silver.

I'm assuming the silver plating avoids the yellowing issue.

Soft coins would need to be plated after softening or the plating would be removed.

They look good. Honestly, you can do coin magic with poker chips or commemorative coins and it will go over the same. You are making small disks appear and disappear. As long as they look like some kind of real coin, it's fine. Get a set, practice some good routines, and have fun.

The shells have very nice fits. Extremely high quality for the price. The sound is also quite nice (to me), and though it's higher pitched than you would expect for real silver, most folks don't know what it should sound like.

I honestly hadn't noticed the one description before saying they were silver plated. But they have been advertised as white copper: e.g. white all the way through, rather than some coins which are copper on the inside and a light plating that then wears down over time showing the cheaper material underneath.

To buy them, you could also order from them directly: https://www.bluethermagic.com/ or email to ask about shipping costs.
Don't try the ones on Amazon calling themselves things like blue-ther - those are all knockoffs.

Yes, beware of hyphenation (or hyphen-ation).

On Amazon, “Blue-ther” is NOT the same product as “Bluether.”

Sneaky ripoff.

Is there any U.S. based companies that sell Bluether coins? Looks like the company is located in China

Bluether. Thought they were German. Clever. Chinese craftsmen are extremely good at making fakes that look like the real thing.

I have to agree with this general point about these coins, “…As long as they look like some kind of real coin, it’s fine.” Yep, pretty much!

Don’t get me wrong, real coins are real nice, but these alternatives should be welcomed as they are much more affordable and to be used for the exact same thing. They handle the same and no one would know any difference. I have the real and unreal, and I believe I have used the unreal a lot more. Why? Well, I feel a bit more comfortable if I was to lose one or ever gave one away. Honestly, I have wished for alternatives like this long ago, so that more people could take part in coin magic with them at a more reasonable cost. And that you can get all the replica gaff coins as well, that makes it even better. I can remember a while back how people spent big money on some of these real sets and several sets. To each his own, but I’m happy that good alternatives like this exist more regularly now. And these look really good, especially softened, but there are others out there that honestly aren’t as good but still more than good enough for the magic you use them for. Smile

I looked into the Bluether coins recently, and they look great. Member @simplymagicweb did a nice review of the Bluether shell set as part of one of his routines.

The one thing that caused me not to order is the apparent requirement to order directly from China. I'm very cautious about providing personal and credit card information in a Chinese payment system. I could not find a USA source, and an email to the USA distributor went unanswered. Otherwise, I was ready to buy the Bluether soft Morgan set.

I just checked on their web site.
They accept PayPal. No need to give them your credit card info directly.

I recall that now. Thanks.

I also recall they charge a 5% fee for Paypal, which is why I reached out to the US distributor.

Anyway, good looking coins approved by a professional worker (Sean) at a nice price.

I have several Bluether sets and I'm very happy with them, especially for the price. They look good, have good weight to them, and most importantly, they always entertain people. That's the most important part.

Very nice. And you don't see many 3-coin boxes these days.

Very nice Sean, thank you for sharing. That is not a special "3 coin" box is it, rather you are using 3 coins in a standard Okito box?

The box is clearly full at the beginning, and three coins come out.
Knowing what I know about potential methods, and watching the level of coins vs the edge of the box (not a thing most spectators would do) it seems clear to me that the maximum capacity is 3. Do you see something different when you watch?

Hi guys. Sorry about the box going out of view! That was the person recording it, not a devious plot by myself!!! No the box will hold four coins no problem, I just choose to do the routine with three as I feel it’s faster and still hits hard.
