Hello- I 'm trying to make one track, with snippets of 3 songs and in between, around 30 seconds of "silence" during which I will proceed with scripted remarks which will lead into the next "snippet" (10-15 seconds) of music.
Would anyone have any idea of music site or audio site where one can download or record "silence" to made part of one larger track of music/silence/music/silence/music as described above? thank you, Kenno |

Hi Kenno, I have some mp3 silence tracks I used to use in my shows. A 5 minute, a 15 minute, and an hour. PM me your private email and I'll send them to you.

I’m using Go Button which allows me to add a “delay” after starting the track before it actually comes on. It allows th same thing.

Audacity is a free audio editing program. You can add the 3 tracks into one track and then add as much silence in between that you want. Then it can be saved as 1 long track.

I also have a 20minute silent track if anyone wants it
If you have a playlist and some kind of remote, placing the silent track between each song allows you to end each song abruptly (presumably at an applause cue) and start the next song whenever you're ready. If you need more than 20 minutes, just play the same track twice The remote only needs a "next" button You can't fade out songs, but in every other respect it's a simple and elegant solution |

This whole thing -- adding silence in between tracks so you can talk -- seems so wrong (archaic) to me. If you want silence, don't start your next track until you're ready?
By putting 23.5 seconds between tracks you're now on rails. If you get a tickle in your throat and need to grab a drink from your water bottle, or a waiter drops a tray of dishes, or any number of other things that could interrupt things briefly, you're not going to hit your mark. It *can* work, but why would you add that kind of limitation (stress!) to your act? I'm not trying to be a dick; I just don't get it. ![]()

To answer Jay's questions:
Some media players go to sleep if they're paused or stopped for too long. The silent track keeps the device from going to sleep because it's still "playing" It also means you can make the delay between songs as long or as short as you want, as long as you have a way to hit "next" With a cheap Bluetooth remote, you can hit "next" while the remote's in your pocket or stuck to your microphone |
