I have had great service with PayPal and the few people that I know who still use PayPal and have for a number of years have never been disappointed with their service.
Did you ever get an e-mail from "PayPal" telling you that there was some kind of "security" check that they were doing and in order to make certain that your account was accurate and safe they needed some verification of your account information? Such as account number, social security number, etc...? If you respond to this e-mail with this data, you can and most likely WILL be ripped off. PayPal and any other legitimate company will never ask for this information online or over the telephone. If they do, DON'T do it, not for ANYONE. EVER! These phony e-mails seem to be sent out every 6 months or so and I still get them all the time even though I have not had an account with PayPal for two years now. Telephone's and Online is NEVER really secure, I don't care what anyone says to the contrary. The CIA, Pentagon, Microsoft, Nasa and many major Government and business organizations have been Hacked and will probably continue to be hacked in the future. I just don't believe in "secured" websites or telephones. Iven

The thing that goes in our favour is the shear amount of people online. This reduces the odds of you being hacked.
Use good password practise too.

You can beleive that if you want to...but consider...the robot spiders visit BILLIONS of sites in a few seconds. Spiders find the holes and targets for mischief. Also there are new RANDOM evil things on websites that can sneak in and take over your system. You don't have to do anything but click on the site...the site owner may not even know the bugs are there. Yes keep your passwords changed often...but don't be surprised either by anything. The bad guys are always many steps ahead of the good guys...it's the nature of the beast. Internet is a dangerous place...but so much fun! Doug
