Hey guys,
I got Ray Kosby's Impossible Card Magic about 3 weeks ago, and I was so eager to see the Raise Rise and the explanation in particular that I actually forwarded to it immediately. It was fabulous finally seeing it in clarity (up till now, had only seen the Magicsmith.com quicktime video which is quite blurry-- though better than nada!) and the explanation knocked me out. I couldn't believe the intricacy of the movements with just one hand (or should I say, one finger, hehe). I was just wondering, for those out there with the video, which of you have practiced or are practicing this incredible effect, and how far along have you come? Can any of you fellas perform this effect smoothly? I have the Ambitious Riser parts coming along very well, and doing the shaking in the mirror, it looks pretty neat. A lot of work left though, no doubt. Any input or comments on this great effect is appreciated! peace.

i could never do it. i quit and traded the video. too much work for me.
i did like that though the method is difficult, ray kosby gave other applications for the same move. ray kosby gave me some tips to make the whole effect easier to perform but i don't think i've tried it since.

I haven't given up on this move yet but I don't think I practice it enough to ever get proficient at it. My hand just doesn't want to seem to bend that way.
But just like alot of slights in magic, I hope to one day have it fall into place. This one is definitely at the top of my difficulty scale.

Rays video was the first video I bought for cards. I was new to cards and immediatly shelved the video. Great tricks but just too advanced for me. I since have sold it.

fstarsinic,
Ray Kosby is very uncomfortable performing. He gets nervous and it just isn't his thing, unfortunately. peace.

yes, I noticed this too...it was a curse I was dealt when I was much younger, but I think I am nearly over it, and learning to be comfortable

The tape certainly has the correct title! I don't know anyone who can do it as smoothly as Ray does. Although, for my money, his version of twisting the aces is much stronger.

Nathanpain,
That's awesome! Good to hear you have overcome your discomfort performing, or are at least progressing! Have fun with spectators, don't fear them. Blurr, Which twisting the aces are you talking about? The two Ace routines on ICM are Freedom Of Choice (though that really is an "any four of a kind" one) and Out Of Space, where the four kings produce three aces, then the fourth king turns into the 4th Ace. Or are you talking about another trick? Lemme know. peace.
