Does anyone know an offical name for the trick where you have a spectator pick a card, false shuffle (or false cut, or whatever), then place their card with a few others between their knuckles, and SLAP all but their card out of their hand?
This is a really common trick, but it is still fun to do, and I just wondered if there is a name for it. I THINK I saw a more complicated version of it in Scarne On Cards. Sorry about my overcomplicated explanation of the trick!

Visit http://www.penguinmagic.com and on the search function type
Hitman then preview the video. I think this is what you're looking for. |

I couldn't find that on penguin magic search, but "Hitman" makes sense. I'm sure that's probably it. Thanks!

This effect is in Magic for Dummies, which your local library probably has. I don't recall the name at the moment, but you might check this book. It's readily available.

John Scarne was very good at crediting material. It is for that alone, that I would suggest it is his own as he does not list a credit on "Hit the Deck".
The trick can be found as you mentioned in "Scarne on Card Tricks" or in the compilation "Scarne's Tricks". Scarne's version is in the hands of the magi and uses the full deck. |

Magic For Dummies, pg. 235, entitled "Slap It". Very vague and sketchy, but you can get the gist of it.
I should add that you'll need a lot of additional info to do it the way Oz Pearlman does it in the Penguin video, so don't get too excited . |

I think that Oz is great. I have both of the dvd's that he and Penguin put out. I would like to point out for everyone that, although Penguin is a great company, the effects that they sell, especialy some of the instant downloads, are not given the title that is common to the magic community. For example, you can purchase their "Quantum Bandits", when what you will be getting is crazy mans handcuffs.

Oz is ok in performing. The onlyt thing I don't like is he does things too fast and people mostly don't have time to absorb the magic...

Oz was kind enough to sign a playing card for me-- The Hitman is a good trick-there are better ones, but I still do this one once in a while--
