Does anybody know how to make sure your IT doesn't tangle? I've been at it for a while now and it keeps getting tangled! Please, can someone help me!

I'm curious about what you are doing with IT to get that result. I've had mine break, but not tangle.

How are you utilizing the tool?

You mean a Fearson hook-up? It happens to me from time-to-time, but normally only during set-up. If I can't untangle it, I just snap it and bring out another.

Is that what you mean? If you could elaborate more on the hookup I could be of more assistance, perhaps a PM to avoid exposing any secrets.

Are you using an ITR or just an IT? I can imagine it being tangled if it is an ITR. If so , you might want to play around with the tension. If the tension is too weak the return is slow and that can cause tangles.

Kevlex? No, no I am not. It sounds like it might be a good idea as IT for the most part is weak and snaps all the time. No, I use Wooly nylon in flat black. You can get a large spool of it at Jo-Anne fabrics for about $4 and It's more than you could even think of using. Going back to kevlex, where can I get some? Once more, does it tangle?

Yes, it tangles ... it's so fine, you can't see it. I say that even with long hours of practice, you will still not be able to master working with IT - the only way to master working with IT is to actually work with IT. It's one thing to use IT in a controlled environment, but it's another thing to be working with IT in a restuarant, bar, street show, etc etc etc.

I've been using IT for well 20 years, and it still tangles. Tonight during my street performances, I had the Queen of Hearts fall to the ground during a show. During the same show, I prematuraly snapped my cigarette and had to end that trick too.

Normally, I do much better than I did tonight. But they will eventually tangle on you, and when they do the best remedy is to simply snap the IT and rig a new one. With experience, you will have less tangles and breaks.

Thanks for the advice. I'm glad that it's not just me! By the way, to bad about your shows. I had a tough day yesterday... sometimes, things just don't work out. Thanks again for the words of wisdom, I'll keep woking with it.
