Back in the 60's when I was a young magician I used spring flowers in my show. I eventually graduated to using feathered flowers.

I still use them in my shows. My Botania is my favorite.

Below is a link to some photos and two videos.

Thanks for sharing. I have a large Abbott Botania which is still very colorful. Audiences love the trick.

One of our favorite feather flower effects was Abbott's GOOFUS PLANT. Smile (With the 3 snakes coming out of the watering can.)

A good, well-made Botania or other well-made feather flower production can be a visually pleasing production (but avoid like the plague the garish, cheap looking "feather dusters". NO Feather Dusters!) , however, don't write off Spring Flowers as something only fit for kids or low-budget shows.

A production of "spring flowrs" can be impressive IF done right.

First of all, most of the spring flowers available from magic shops are not good. Be prepared to engage in some arts & crafts work to make your own. Not only are most commercially available spring flowers poorly made, even if they are technically well made they they tend to be overly garish , with too many disparate colors mixed in. It is much better to use all one color of blossom (all red, all white, all pink, all yellow, depending on what you prefer) and MOST IMPORTANT : the ratio of all green (leaves) to blossoms should be at least 1/2 or maybe 2/3rds GREEN leaves and 1/2 or 1/3 COLOR blossoms. Finally, make sure you use at least 100 spring flowers. Most magicians only use 25 . (depending on how you load them , you may need to break up the loads into packets of 4 x 25 spring flowers) A production of only 20 - 25 flowers from a paper cone or from a box is not that impressive , but if the cone overflows with flowers (100 or more) it can be a very magical effect, especially if your flowers look realistic.

Here is the French magician Dani Lary, with his "Magical Gardener" sketch, which involves one of the most impressive flower productions I've ever seen. This is the spring flower production done as it should be. (notice the high ratio of green leaves to the white blossoms ... although he also has mixed in a few light pink blossoms to provide some variety)
