15) I'm guessing that the melody for Battle Hymn of the Republic was originally either Brazilian, Italian or Dutch?

Still looking ...
15 William Steffe of South Carolina apparently wrote the camp-meeting song that became the Battle Hymn, but I haven't discovered any foreign influence thus far. 20 Is it that Reykjavik has no dogs at all?

Dr Chutney, on number 20, it has more to do with <I>why</I> Reykjavik doesn't have any dogs.

Iceland....Iceland....It can't be too cold, there are dogs found way further North.....heated by volcanoes...8th wealthiest country in the world...That's all I KNOW about Iceland offhand!! Wait....Rejakivyk was the first city to legalize abortion...do dogs have anything to do with...uhm...probably not.
WAIT!! Allright, this is just a brainstorm longshot, but is it because during the winter it gets so cold that a dog would freeze in a MOST awkward and painful manner while releiving itself on a fire-hydrant?

20 It is illegal to own a dog in Reykjavik. No idea why, but it's the law.
Strangely the Icelandic hot dogs are said to be some of the best in the world.

Scott Cram, regardless of how people arrive at their answers, it is still much fun to get on record as providing the solution first. That's the challenge of the instant information age...The way I figure it... you successfully stumped everyone...because not all have been answered, so you achieved your goal!!!

No 2. Depending on which leg of the horse is how the rider died. I read something like that once before somewhere.

I know and understand, I would just like to remember where I read about it though. Just my curiosity again.

"Umbridge"? "UMBRIDGE"? Do you mean "Umbrage"?
Here's a good obscure one. Name a food you can't buy frozen or canned. --Josh |

Any Statue comemerating a battle hero in which the hero is on a horse does in fact have significance. If all four horse legs are on the ground, no injury was recieved. If one of the horses legs are in the air, then the hero was injured during war. If both front horses legs are in the air, the hero died in battle. This is the regulations for USA, though I am not sure about other countries. I am somewhat of a history buff, and we learned this many years ago.l Check it with the heros in the civil war, that's when it got started. If you don't believe me, then I challenge you to a duel. Fifteen paces, turn, and throw your confetti. last one loses.

I'll accept your duel.
I think I heard somewhere that although some statue thingies show that code to be correct or some society had tried to make that code into affect, there are many statues that contradict the way the soldier dies in battle. I guess not enough statue makers knew of the code cause it got too secretive making the 'secret code' inaccurate and redundant. =P |
