Effect with Props

HOW ACCURATE OR COMPLETE THE AD COPY IS:
It’s mostly accurate. Not everything can be examined, but everything that’s left on the table can be examined. Also, the “packs small, plays big” doesn’t really apply to this routine as it’s not really suited to being performed for large audiences. It does pack small though.

SET-UP AND RE-SET:
The set-up takes less than a minute as it involves the pre-arrangement of pocket space, at least if use Dr. Rubinstein’s presentation. I found that if you put all the props in one pouch, you can actually use that as part of the routine to put opened envelopes back in the pouch, which enables you to easily do some of the work involved. This reduces and/or eliminates pocket space.

WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED THAT YOU NEED OR NEED TO KNOW:
The plastic wallet that comes with the plastic is a cheap one. With repeated use, and because the wallet is stuffed with many coins, chips, and envelopes, it will wear. As mentioned above, I suggest you buy a nice coin/card pouch to use instead. Also as mentioned above, you will need pocket space, though as I also said, you can use a coin/card pouch instead. Another point is that the “image permanently imprinted on the opposite side of the chip” is a sticker. They’re not the best quality stickers either, but they work. Finally, there are some basic and simple coin sleights involved, but they are quite similar to techniques a mentalist would use when handling billets, so this shouldn’t be much of an issue.

JHEFF’S JUDGMENT:
Good coin routines in mentalism are not that common. Dr. Michael Rubinstein, known for his expert coin routines, has released a coin routine that is direct, surprising, and not that difficult to do. Even though I have considerations and issues with the the ad copy (see above), they are, for the most part, minor ones, and don’t diminish my conclusion that this is a winning mentalism routine with coins.

I appreciate the review, but have three differences of opinion. First, the poker chips are custom made by a poker chip site that indeed uses a photographic process. The images are NOT stickers (As I said in the ad copy)! Second, the holder is your typical business card holder. It should last you a long time, as long as you take care of it, as with any prop. Finally, I performed this at a convention with 200 people watching, so it can play big. This is a perfect routine for 3-4 people, or a group (for example, the Castle close-up room).
Anyway, I always appreciate honest thoughts about any of my material.

I received a note from a friend in the United Kingdom, asking about the fact that you need to supply your own half dollars. I understand that this might be harder outside of the USA, but in the UK and Europe you can find them in any well stocked magic shop or coin store (at least in all the coin shops I visited when in Europe). Plus, in Europe as stated in my printed intro sheet, you can change the routine slightly so that you can add English pennies to replace the use of half dollars. That works equally well, and of course would probably be easier to obtain.

I am sorry I'm late to the game but I am looking for a copy! Please someone let me know where can I get one? Is there another run planned soon?

Conviction Prediction

"Conviction Prediction" is, of all things, a mentalism routine performed with three different poker chips and four small white envelopes. Three spectators select chips (no
force) then select a white envelope (no force). They are even given opportunities to change their minds (again, no force). The envelopes are then opened, revealing that
each contains a different coin, Chinese, English, American, etc. Incredibly, the reverse side of each poker chip bears an image of the coin that was selected by that spectator. This effect belongs to the destiny" or "free will" category of mentalism, and the beats of this well-designed routine serve to highlight the deep impossibility created by the spectators' random actions. As one might expect with
Dr. Rubinstein, there is a bit of sleight of hand
involved (nothing very difficult) but what you
