This is a routine I have been performing and teaching since seeing David Roth perform his Linking Coins routine at the New York Magic Symposium back in 1982. I loved the routine, but felt that there needed to be a reason for the coins sticking together. Thus, Magnetic Coins was born. Thank you for sharing. It is a coin presentation that is not for me, yet I feel others can get usage.

Thanks for posting. I always stress that presentation is based on the personality of the performer. Some people use humor, some find another angle when performing, and it's all good. Regardless of the humor, I find that showing normal coins becoming magnetic is interesting, puzzling, and magical, especially when the coins are examinable before, during, and after. By the way, as you can see in my profile, I have a special going on with some of my products (including Magnetic Coins), with a giveaway of some leftover magician T shirts from the Gateway Convention.

MAGNETIC COINS

"This is a routine that Dr. Rubinstein has been doing since the "80s, and it has an odd but curiously believable plot: The performer is going to make two half dollars magnetic. The routine is astutely plotted - at the top the two coins are examined and are clearly not magnetic. Then, the performer applies a static electric charge to the coins and they exhibit a visual attraction to one another. A greater charge, and one coin leaps through the air to join the other coin! At this point the coins can be handed to spectator in a permanently magnetized state and the spectator will be unable to separate them. It's up to the performer to use a bit of heat (or magic) to dissipate the magnetic attraction
and return them to the state of two ordinary half dollars. This is predominantly a sleight of
hand effect that incorporates a well-made gimmick at a key point in the proceedings.
What I like most about the routine is it's plot, a premise easily grasped by spectators and
made real in a playful, visual manner.
Considerations:
The coins that were supplied in my set are shiny 2022 Kennedy halves. The match between the genuine coins and the gimmick is perfect."

This is a great trick and a fun premise for your spectators. Easy to do and it gets really good reactions. It's a no-brainer
