I purchased a coin trick someplace online....it came with no instructions...not even a name of the trick...all I can do is tell you the coins I received..I received a Franklin coin, can't tell whether its quarter or half sized and 4 or 5 dimes.....SORRY, that's all the clues I have

I confess I'm confused. You're suggesting we beware, but also can't give us any information about the seller, what it was supposed to be or what it actually is?
Do you not have any quarters or half dollars on hand to compare sizes with? Normally I'd say a Franklin coin would be a (silver) half dollar, but since I don't know what you paid, I can't even tell you if it's a replica or something else entirely. |

I never ever buy something that I am not familiar with before purchasing. Did it once on a whim and it was just a waste of money .
Just try that’s all you can do , never give up .

In other news...
I once ate some food at a restaurant somewhere that made me feel ill with unspecified symptoms. Beware! Don't let that happen to you. |

Re: "Four or five dimes".
I can help with that. If you received one more than 3 dimes it was four. If you recieved one less than six, it was 5 dimes. |

Well, that cleared everything up.

Since so far as I know the only “Franklin coins” in existence are half dollars, I’m guessing that the OP’s coin is a fifty cent piece.
And *that* further suggests that perhaps the accompanying dimes may in fact number five, IF (just speculating here) the effect perhaps involves “making change” — i.e., turning a half dollar into five dimes. But it’s very odd to buy an effect and receive only ungaffed coins to perform it. Typically, if ungaffed coins are all that's involved, then “buying the trick” means just buying the instructions, and it’s up to the buyer to obtain the necessary regular coins (in this case, a half dollar and some dimes). When buying a coin trick where coins are included as part of the purchase, generally at least one of them is a gaff coin. So, I’d ask the OP: are you sure that the coins you received for this trick really are all just normal coins? Or might one (or more) of the supplied coins be gaffed? (It might be hard to tell, if unsuspected and well-made.)

Alternatively, put the two dimes side-by side (no longer stacked). A half dollar is about 1+2/3 dimes wide, while a quarter is only 1 + 1/4 dimes wide. Easy peasy! As far as the trick - I like the idea of something like a Dusheck quick change, using a clip. I was also thinking something like nickels to dimes, but that would be Jefferson, not Franklin. It would also more likely be an indeterminate number of nickles (for the stack) than the dimes. Knowing the name of the product that was purchased would certainly provide a lot of useful context, as I pointed out initially. |
