Hi, I'm just wondering what type of ribbon or string to use for needle thru balloon. I've been looking but can't seem to find any old threads on this topic.

Yarn can be used or if you are looking for the golden ribbon, that is 1/8" golden lemay ribbon.

Yep, yarn is the best. You can initially pull it through doubled. Then when needle is out other side, you can hold onto one end and pull the other side through. This frees the needle and the single strand of yarn will keep the balloon inflated indefinitely. You can then hand to spectator to hold yarn on both ends and they will see it closeup going through balloon. It is a great display. You can then pop it. You can also use the yarn going through balloon in this manner for other effects, for example having a chosen card appear on yarn when balloon is popped.

Thanks again. I found some great, acrylic yarn. It's kind of thick and compresses a lot so it works great at filling the hole. I also bought some Qualatex 16" clear balloons and the trick looks a lot better.
